Back To Francois is a great album. Every once in awhile Alberta produces a Joni Mitchell, and this is the next one. Of course, the music scene being what it is, Joni Mitchell may not have made it today, and neither might Rachelle Van Zanten, so enjoy her while you can.
The variety of songs is excellent, going from piano ballads (January) to slide guitar (Take Me Right Back), from political commentary on our pollution problems(Dirty Water) to instrumentals with a few farcical lyrics (..such as "don't call me Shirley"). I can listen from start to finish without finding a weak track, and if you're like me you'll want to listen again and again.
Rachelle also runs the very popular Rocker Girl summer camp here in Alberta.
My favourite album of the year. Recommended with 5 stars.
