This review is from: The Later Roman Empire (A.D. 354-378) (Paperback)
I usually never read too much about the end of the Roman Empire but I discovered the legions were still as great as ever. Only the leaders had changed for the worse and that's basically what destroyed the empire:the roman elite plotting against each other... In any case, definitely a great epic book, not to miss! Julian was the Cesar to make a difference, one last time. The barbarians had not ravaged Rome yet, so people could still see the eternal city, intact and grandiose.
