Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

In this action-packed historical romance, the only time people rest is when they're downed with fever or knocked unconscious. Nineteen-year-old Courtney Farrow, daughter of Duncan Farrow, the most feared pirate on North Africa's Barbary Coast, can fight, swear and think as well asif not better thanmost men. But the time is 1804 and the U.S. Navy is attacking and destroying pirate strongholds. In battle, Courtney, disguised as a boy, is captured and forced to become cabin boy to Lt. Adrian Ballantine, proud, handsome, and the only man who can tame her spirit. He has other things on his mind, though, namely discovering who is selling secrets to the pirates; she, meanwhile, suspects a traitor in the pirate ranks also. Packed with well-drawn characters, fiery sea battles and, for the most part, accurate information, this book is a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish someone would reissue this book!, April 14 2000

Like the other reader who commented, my copy is worn out andhas more tape than glue.... This was one the best adventure romance books that I read and I have to say it was like watching a movie. In fact, when A&E recently ran Hornblower, I thought of The Wind and the Sea and pulled out my tattered copy to read again. I'm not a fan of pirate novels, but this one and Ms Canham's other seafaring adventure, Across A Moonlit Sea, are two of the very best IMO.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pirate wench clashes with an aristocratic navy lieutenant., April 5 1999

This review is from: The wind and the sea (Mass Market Paperback)
The Wind and the Sea, Marsha Canham's best book, is unequaled when it comes to seafaring, swashbuckling, sizzling romance. Premier characterization, superb plotting grab the reader from the onset and refuse to let go. Courtney, daughter of a pirate, and Adrian Ballantine, honor bound navy man, fight and love from beginning to end.

I wish someone would reprint this. My copy is old and worn and falling apart but it is one of the best seafaring adventure romances I have ever read.
