Product description

High performance, omnidirectional antenna for receiving 1090MHz Mode S and ADS-B data from aircraft. The antenna can be used outdoors, mounted on a mast that is 2.5cm to 4cm in diameter, or installed indoors against a window. When properly installed without obstructions, the antenna can receive ADS-B data from aircraft up to 250mi / 400km away. Mounting bracket and U-bolts included. Compatible with all ADS-B receivers including FlightFeeder, PiAware, Mode S Beast, Radarcape, Kinetic SBS1/SBS3, RTL Dongles, and more.

This antenna made a huge difference over the ones that came with my Nooelec NESDR SMArt. Once I got it over my roof though, that’s what made the most difference. Add a FlightAware pro stick and you’re off to the races.

This antenna is tuned to receive the 1090MHz signal sent out by aircraft. It’s a rock solid piece with ample mounting hardware. It looks like something you’d see at an airport. It’s huge.

The real difference will happen when it is properly mounted, with an unobstructed view of the sky. An antenna can only do so much, and ADS-B is pretty much line of sight, so if you’re going to mount an antenna, make it this one or another similarly set up for 1090MHz.

I bought this to improve the signal on my Flightradar24 Raspberry Pi server (Pi24). I had it mounted in an upstairs window, and now outdoors, and my range has more than doubled compared to cheaper alternatives. The available bandpass filter doesn't make much difference in my application. Overall, I like the results and would definitely buy again. I found it works out fine to use an RG6 RF cable with adaptor on each end, N to RF on antenna and RF to SMA on the other.
