From the Inside Flap

Extreme success, by definition, lies beyond the realm of normal action. If you want to achieve extreme success, you can't operate like everybody else and settle for mediocrity. You need to remove luck and chance from your business equation, and lock in massive success. The 10X Rule shows you how! Success is your duty, obligation, and responsibility, and this book gives you step-by-step guidance on how to achieve phenomenal success for yourself!

With The 10X Rule, you'll learn to establish the amount of effort needed to guarantee success and ensure that you can continue operating at this level throughout your life. Most people desire success and have great ideas but they come up short on the amount of action required to get their lives to the exceptional levels they deserve. Four degrees of action exist, and in order to achieve your dreams, you must learn to operate at the fourth degree of action: Massive Action. The 10X Rule will dissolve fears, increase your belief in yourself, eliminate procrastination, and provide you with an overwhelming sense of purpose. The 10X Rule compels you to separate yourself from everyone else in the market—and you do that by doing what others refuse to do. Stop thinking in terms of basic needs, and start aiming for abundance—in all areas of your life.

The 10X Rule guides you toward the frame of mind that all successful people share. Aim ten times higher than you are right now—and if you come up short, you'll still find yourself further along than if you had maintained your life's current status quo. The 10X Rule teaches you how to:

  • Reach goals that you previously thought were impossible

  • Correctly set goals and guarantee their achievement

  • Create unprecedented levels of happiness and satisfaction in every area of your life

  • Use fear as fuel to move you into action

  • Get everything you want and never have to settle

  • Dominate your competition and become a role model for success

"If this is going to work it will depend on your ability to increase your efforts - not your excuses."

Need a butt kicking to create success and get moving towards a goal? This book will give you that and more.

I read this book a few months ago. It was a great read and I definitely felt like it gave me a performance boost. The interesting thing is the lasting impact of the book. I am still thinking about some of the things I read months later like the quote above.

From how you set your goals, to why so many people create average in their life (and why you won't after you read this) to the mindset you must have to do something big - this book gives you lots of food for thought, steps and hard hitting questions to help you get going.

If you are concerned about time management and balance in your life, you'll get a shot to the gut on this one.

If you're looking for a strategic guide to create a business - that's not what this book is. If you're looking for a way to work four hours a week and play the rest of the time, this book won't please you. Not for the lazy - this book demands you get off the couch and be great. If that's what you want in your life, career and business, you're in for the perfect read and a caffeine shot of motivation. If you want to give your mindset a tune up and get motivated, you'll find that in a high dose.

Grant Cardone style may not be for everyone, but I find that he makes a strong case for changing our lackadaisical approach to things. We tend to tackle things, new business, new skills, and to do the minimum we think we need to succeed. Grant makes it clear that is usually just a route to failure. Everything takes a way lot more effort, determination, drive, to succeed, than just the bare minimum. We are self-deceiving ourselves, if we think we can get a college degree, start a success business, succeed in a career, learn a musical instrument, succeed in a relationship, if we give it only a half-hearted attempt. We might as well realize from the beginning if we going to really succeed at whatever it is -- we have to go all in, we have to put in massive effort with massive determination, and massive drive.

I had to check the copyright of this book, I was sure it was written circa 1986. It's basically ass in seat mentality. Not only is there nothing new here there aren't even any take ways you can apply, and the book is pretty boring and poorly written. I'll save you $15.99 and a few hours of your life, here it is in a nut shell: work like crazy, be on call all the time and be be aggresivley shameless in your approach. If you love the idea of working 80 hour weeks for the rest of your life and your business running you, instead of you running your business then this one's for you.

Many years ago, I read a book written by David J. Schwartz, The Magic of Thinking Big, that helped me to widen and deepen my perspective when exploring possibilities. I was reminded of that book as I began to read The 10X Rule in which Grant Cardone also urges his reader to keep in mind that most human limits are self-imposed. Long before Schwartz's book was published (my copy was published in 1987), Henry Ford observed, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right." More recently, in Built to Last, Jim Collins and Jerry Porras urge business leaders to select what they call a BHAG, a Big Hairy Audacious Goal, for their organization. Cardone brings valuable insights to an important discussion of how to increase sustainable fulfillment of human potentialities.

In other words, many (most?) people become committed to a negative self-fulfilling prophecy: consciously and/or unconsciously, their self-defeating attitude ensures that they will either fail or fall far short of what they could have achieved. And more often than not, they see themselves as victims of circumstances over which they have little (if any) control. In striking contrast, peak performers are committed to a positive self-fulfilling prophecy: consciously and unconsciously, they consistently achieve great success beecause they are absolutely convinced they not only can but WILL. It is not a matter of "if," only "when."

In Chapter 1, Cardone lists the basic series of mistakes people make when setting out to achieve goals:

1. Selecting objectives that are too low, too easy, etc. that will not excite, inspire, and motivate people.
2. Severely underestimating what is necessary to achieve a goal.
3. Spending too much time competing, not enough time succeeding.
4.
