5.0 out of 5 stars Great yearly resource for songwriters Feb. 29 2012
By BlackBelt - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is the 2012 version of this resource that comes out every year. If you are a songwriter, artist or group that's not signed to a label, this is a great book to own. It lists available record companies and publishers, agents and producers, and what's required to contact each one.
There are also different articles each year about how to grow your craft. Those articles are full of good solid information that will help any songwriter or artist get started and keep the momentum going in their career.

1.0 out of 5 stars VERY DISAPPOINTED Nov. 17 2012
By Loretta - Published on
Format: Paperback
Very Disappointed!

I shopped many of my songs out of the 2012 SONGWRITERS MARKET. I contacted around 70
Music Publishers, and around 30 Record Producers. Out of this total of 100, I heard
back from maybe 25% of these companies.

The other 75% of this 100, (whom I wrote to and called at least 3 times a piece), either my letters
came back "Undeliverable", "No Forwarding Address," or "Not At All"! I even decided to mail Song
Packages out anyway and I still heard nothing back at all.

I went ahead and ordered the 2013 SONGWRITERS MARKET BOOK, which was out for sale in late October,
and with the exception of 3 or 4, every one of these same companies are still listed in the 2013 Book.
Some with even the same bad addresses!

I myself am very disappointed about the obvious lack of care or concern as to how this book is being
inaccurately Edited and inaccurately Updated. Not to menation the loss of at least $100.00 in Postage
due to this Editor's lack of care. She obviously takes very little time making sure many of these
NONE REPUTABLE, UNCARING COMPANIES are no longer in the book. When I think of all the thousands in
Postage that is surely lost due to this, not to mention time wasted by hundreds, or even thousands of
songwriters, that really hurts. I even e-mailed one of the Record Producers in the 2013 book, and he
wrote back saying that he wasn't even aware that he was in the book. He plans on contacting the Editor
to have his name removed. He was in both the 2012 and 2013 book.

Come On Editor! What kind of Caring Editor, puts the following years edition of this book out 2 Months
before the new year even gets here, and doesn't even take the time to make sure everything in the book
is accurate? What kind of person does this, and has no thought or care at all how much money is getting
flushed down the toilet in Postage by us Songwriters because of it? The Economy is bad out here and
money is pretty darn hard to come by as it is, so hey, Thanks a lot for not making it any easier.

One Producer had actually passed away on February 5th, 2012. No wonder All my attempts to contact him
failed, and my letters kept coming back. This is a company I shopped my songs to out of the 2012 book.
Guess what? The company is still listed in the 2013 SONGWRITERS MARKET BOOK. That happened at least 8 Months
before the 2013 SONGWRITERS MARKET BOOK came out.

This used to be a pretty good, and pretty accurate book. It's a shame that it has gone this far down hill.

This book has so much informative information within it. As one who is interested in songwriting, this book has educated me on various channels of communications in the music industry. It is worth the reading so, you know what to look out for. I am highly satisfied with my purchase.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Investment July 11 2013

I read this at my local library & it offers invaluable advice from people who are immersed in the industry - so I bought a used copy. The was in near perfect condition and I had it in just a few days via regular mail. If you are serious about your career, or even where to get sound advice on your work - you have to get a copy!
1.0 out of 5 stars Worse book I have ever bought Dec 10 2014

Worse book I have ever bought. This is a crime when they tell you this is the book that will get your music heard. What a bunch of nonsense!!!! I will not ever buy this book again! I used it and nothing happened.
