I fell in love with this book. Sat in a Mall for 5 hours trying out every stitch I could to make a pattern for a scarf from what is in this book. It is a wonderful collection of knowledge and info and a valuable resource for one to have and is clear, well worded and written and the photos are great examples of what the stitch will look like and it includes info for some stitches ie. not to use it for certain things since it can be this and that. I will treasure this book.

I got this book in Sept 2010. I read a few previous reviews that said this book is great... Absolutely amazing would have been a better choice of words. I cannot believe all the different stitches there are. To me it is my main knitting book now and I assume will be forever. You can create your own patterns with this book. I have made a bunch of different swatches or dishclothes just to test them out, beautiful. Now I have been making scarves by some of the stitch patterns from the book. I haven`t boughten a knitting magazine since!!! I have only been knitting a year but have already made a sweater, still consider myself just easy level but this book is GREAT!

This book gives a good range of stitch possibilities and the instructions are easy to read. Any dedicated knitter would find this reference book a valuable addition to their knitting library, and possibly a source of inspiration.

This book gives you at a glance what different stiches or combinations of stiches looks like. Each stitch has a picture which is very helpful. There is easy to hard stitches. This is a very good reference for a beginner to an accomplished knitter. It will have a permanent spot on my book shelf.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the stitches and the photos are quite good - but - the charts are ridiculously small and faint, while the written instructions 'run on' like prose. This makes the book virtually unusable - don't buy it!

This is my favorite English knitting stitches dictionary to date. The book starts off with clear concise descriptions of knitting basics which are actually very helpful. I like that they included sequential photos to illustrate some of the techniques.

The bulk of the book is the stitches dictionary and they are broken up into categories: Knit-purl, Crossed stitches and cables, Slipped stitches, Lacy stitches, Double stitches, Twisted stitches, Cast-off stitches, and Fancy stitches. A color guide assigned to each category helps you to find the section you are looking for quick and easily. The swatches of the stitches are bright and very clear. There is a written instructions for each stitch but best of all, at least in my opinion, each one is charted as well. You will LOVE this feature, especially if you want to try your hand at designing knitting patterns. Or if you want to take your knitting to the next level and learn how to read knitting charts. At the back of the book, there is a symbol key section.

All in all, this is a really handy book and definitely worth its price and spot on my "keeper" knitting bookshelf.

Excellent reference for all types of stitches. The book gives you the basics and how it is done, then you can take that stitch and customize it to whatever project you are working on. Wonderful visual reference, great photos of sample swatches.
