About the Author
Derek Blyth has lived in Brussels for more than 20 years. As a journalist, he has explored almost every corner of the city. He likes to drink coffee at Blomqvists and buy wine at Mig's. He cycles down the Rue de la Paix to buy croissants at Renard and drinks Poperings Homelbier at Les Brassins. Formerly editor of the Brussels English-language weekly The Bulletin, he has written several books on the Low Countries, including Brussels for Pleasure and Flemish Cities Explored. He is co-founder of the discussion forum Cafe Europa and contributes a regular column on Brussels life to Eurostar's Metropolitan magazine. In drawing up this list of 500 hidden secrets, the author has taken advice from friends, family, neighbours, Belgian journalists and local historians. He thanks Lucia Cabanova, Nathalie Piana and Anna Blyth for checking out places to go clubbing. He thanks the people of Brussels for creating a city that is like nowhere else.

500 Hidden Secrets
A series of city guides
Each city guide is written by real locals summarizing the city in 100 different categories of 5 addresses or facts, relating to food and drink, accommodation, shopping and culture. The authors always try to go off the beaten track, selecting lesser known places, which have yet to be found by the tourist hordes. In some cases, they also suggest places and facts that many of the locals in the city were not even aware of.
Most of these are places to visit, with practical information to help you find your way. Others are bits of information that help you get to know the city and its habitants. The aim of this guide is to inspire to explore each city.
City guides for everyone who wants to discover the best-kept secrets of your favorite city

The only possible confusion-and it is likely my fault -is that I don't understand the number references to the maps. Ah, but all is far from lost; the author has listed locations with the descriptions.
I do hope that there will be updates and most of all, that this will be published in digital format.
