Product description

Product Description

InThe 8-Hour Diet, David Zinczenko and Peter Moore present a paradigm-shifting plan that allows readers to eat all the foods that they love, while losing those extra pounds that they hate. But it's so simple it's like clockwork. Literally.

Research shows that by focusing their diet on 8 critical, nutrient-rich Superfoods--and eating as they normally would, but only within an 8-hour window each day--readers really can eat whatever they want, while losing weight faster than they ever imagined. The timing mechanism is such that it will reset a dieter's metabolism so that he or she can enter fat-burning mode first thing in the morning--and stay there all day long.

In the book, readers will additionally find motivating strategies, cheating tips for those days when an 8-hour schedule is impossible, a sample eating plan, delicious recipes (of course, rich in Superfoods), an eight-minute daily workout routine to maximize calorie burn, and a bonus workout for those looking not only to lose weight but also to tone their bodies. The 8-Hour Diet promises to strip away unwanted pounds, and to give readers the focus and willpower they need to reach all of their goals for weight loss (and otherwise).

I liked the concept. The first week I lost 3 lbs. For the first 2 days I felt hungry in the morning but then got used to it and didn't mind missing breakfast or having it later. I gradually worked into it. The 8 minutes of exercise is nothing. I walked up and down stairs and then did some floor exercises and some weights. Then had my coffee. I would recommend this book if you want to get a real fast start to a diet.

This book really helps. Though, the claim 'no counting calories' is nonsense. It's easy to reduce calorie intake when you are on an 8 hour window, so, you'll lose weight.
I lost 25 lbs so far.
The other con's: 8 min exercise is not enough, there is no mention of avoiding GMO and processed foods, and also unnecessary recommendation against white rice.
Pros: if you reduce your calories and eat healthy and fast, you'll be surprised how fast this book slashes you chronic disease risks.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works for me. Nov. 9 2015

Great read. I've already lost 13 lbs by not eating breakfast anymore in the first two weeks. And I've never felt better. I've been doing this eight hour diet everyday, though. And not just three days a week. I just drink four cups of coffee in the morning and of course water throughout the day. My first meal is at 1:30pm and then dinner is either at 5:30pm or 6:00pm. And sometimes I'll have a piece of fruit right before the eight hours is up. This book along with the No Breakfast Plan by Dr. Edward Hooker Dewey have done wonders for me.

Edit: After going off the diet this past February, I gained my weight back in no time. Then in May I went back on it. And have been on it ever since. I've already lost 30 lbs. I also do bodyweight excersises six mornings a week. I highly recommend this way of eating.

Possibly the easiest diet I've ever done, and it works even if you don't eat the foods that are recommended. As long as you follow the timing of the diet, you will lose weight! I lost 10 lbs without changing what I eat, just when I eat.

5.0 out of 5 stars like salmon, avocado's April 4 2016
By joe colton - Published on Amazon.com

I have tried this diet now for 60 days and lost 10 lbs . It was not hard at all. for 8 hours I ate what I wanted: healthy foods, like salmon, avocado's, salads, cheese, mayo, eggs, tuna, Ezekiel bread, low carb tortillas by la tortilla factory, protein bars, yogurt, sour cream, lots ofdark chocolate , some veggies I like , even vodka on weekends. I do not eat junk food like pizza, mcdonalds, anyway. but I went from 203 to 191-193 in 2 months.
NO EXERCISE due to time restrictions. I am staying on this, having tried ALL diets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked for me! April 3 2013
By LC - Published on Amazon.com

I got the book and started the diet around mid January. I'm happy to report that I have lost 13 lbs so far and it's definitely easier than any other weight loss plan I've ever tried (and I've tried lots of them). I think it works so well for me because I find it impossible to eat 3 real meals within 8 hours so I eat a lot less than I did before. I start eating around 11 am. I usually have a healthy breakfast, then maybe a banana with peanut butter or a yogurt in the afternoon, then I eat anything I want for dinner and sometimes even a little dessert. I stop eating by 7 pm. I've been doing it almost every day but I have skipped a few weekend days if my hubby wants to go out for breakfast. 13 lbs may not seem like a lot in almost 3 months but I find that, by doing it slowly, it stays off, even on the occasions when I cheat. It's so easy that I feel like I can do it for the long haul because I don't feel deprived at all.

I know there is controversy over who 'owns' the diet and I hope the involved parties get that worked out. All I know is that this is the easiest I have ever been able to lose weight.
