Okay... This album is my favourite CD everrrrr(tied with OutKast's Aquemini). This CD is stellar from start to finish. I can't find a single thing that hurts the rating. There are NO interludes. In any CD if there are intuerludes at all, I like them to attach it to a song, or add more tracks. I hate when a CD has so little songs becasue of interludes. Anyway... The beats are still some of my favourites today. The lyrics mesmerize you and make you think. The flows, in my opinion, can't be beat.
I love all of the tracks. Two Dope Boys (In a Cadillac), that is one of the hypest beats ever. ATLiens is byfar the catchiest chorus I've ever heard. Good beat and lyrics to go with it. Wheelz of Steel, like some have said before, has some amazing scratching, flow and beat. Yes even though Jazzy Belle is a lower key song, it is soooooo good. Dont skip it just because you mind find it slow. Oh yeah, theres some scratching in there too. Elevators is an amazing lyrical feat from both Big Boi and Dre. It has an amazing beat. If you play that in your car, people will hear that wicked echo of the snare from so far man. Ova da woods. Daaaamn the bassline in that beat kicks it up a notch. Babylon is a tight song that has some lyrics i love but cant sample here (explicit). Wailin is a little short but has a really good flow and that a kickin beat. Mainstream in my opinion is a great song, but is the not the best song in the Album. Its a great song, but the rest out-level by half a step. Ohhh my Goshhh. Decatur Psalm is so amazing. Everything is good about this track, i dont know what to say. Millenium is my favourite track on the whole album. Dre just tears the whole place apart in the very first verse.Read more ›
'Some things gotta change, sounds of laughter and happiness turn my teardrops to the rain, like memories of yesterday'.
There is eroticism too- 'Im fascinated by the way your nipples poke at me through your blouse'.
The only thing better than the deep (yet unpretentious lyrics) are the tremendous, soulful hooks, which combine great vocal harmonies with an organ or a piano say.
The three best times to play this album are; Driving alone at night (but watch not to crash with relaxation!), when hungover (when profoundity and sensitivity is heightened), or at the end of a hot party or night out. One cant say that ATLiens is the best Outkast album, because there is not a best Outkast album, that is the brilliance of the group- that there is an album for each mood. Yet this is hip-hop and music at its' best.
And guess what? I have no regrets whatsoever. But enough about me. This album, to put it simply, is off the chain. Unlike mainstream rap today, where the same stuff is rapped about over and over (at least some of the songs sound good), this album thinks outside the box. It starts out with "Two Dope Boyz", a great way to kick off the album. This track, though short at only 2:46, lives up to its name; it's DOPE. Next is the eerie, out of this world "ATLiens", with its funky laid-back alien beat and the crazy wordplay by Big Boi in the 1st verse. Then comes the best song on the album in my opinion, "Wheelz of Steel". This one definately should of been released as a single, its got a really catchy hook, mad scratching and sweet beat. Tracks 5 & 6, "Jazzy Belle" & "Elevators" are both excellent slow tracks with the same crazy lyrics and beats you'd expect from Outkast. Other standouts on this CD include "Mainstream", "E.T. (Extraterrestrial)", & "13th Floor/Growing Old", a piano-based with a touching melody. The rest isn't quite as good, but it's nothing worth hitting the fast-forward button on.
If you want to see where the Album of the Year Speakerboxx/The Love Below came from, pick up this album. Definately a CD to add to one's collection.
P.S. Pick up Speakerboxx/The Love Below if you haven't already!
I'd give their other album Aquemini 4 stars, Skankonia 5 stars, and their solo efforts Speakerboxx/Love Below a 4.5. But this album still is their masterpiece.

One of my all time fav albums, i hang it up in my studio and it looks dope. The cover is a lot more vivid than the picture, looks like a comic book.Published 7 months ago by arjun
Overall great product, only reason for 4 stars is that the sleeve was a little warped but no damage otherwise.Published on June 7 2014 by Connie Rapini
