ArtPlaster makes perfect reproductions of any object within minutes, and is an excellent medium for casting decorative figurines in mold. Create craft projects such as wall plaques, candle bases, bookends, lamp bases, figurines, etc. ArtPlaster sets up in thirty minutes and is microwaveable or will air dry. Different packaging with no instructions- beware!!!!

The product came in a completely different package (a bag) with no mixing ratio instructions on it whatsoever! The only thing the bag says is “mix, pour, finish”.

I looked on Activa’s website for mixing ratios and this product isn’t even listed. So I had to guess and used the 2parts water to 1 part plaster ratio- like dishwater. Increased the plaster to 1:1- still runny. Increased the plaster to another 1/2 cup and only then did it begin to react.

Poured it into 3 moulds since there was so much and a layer of water rose to the surface. I let it sit for almost 48 hours and it was still wet. The smallest of the molds broke apart, the larger two are still drying after all this time!

The description says it is dense but because I had to mixing instructions, mine are crumbly and unusable.

Terrible product. Will stick with regular Plaster of Paris.

Strange perfume odor, might be unpleasant for some (other plaster I bought also has this smell but not as strong). Castings are harder than regular plaster of paris, cures quicker and doesn't "chalk off" like plaster, BUT it is also much more brittle. Thinner castings broke just picking them up. Regular plaster costs about 1/4 the price, but I had to go to several local stores to find it. So there is something to be said for Prime shipping for this fancy plaster. If you are wondering about any benefits worth the extra price, I would probably just get some local store plaster again, would only get this if I couldn't find anything locally or had a more serious project. Other reviewers said detail is better and has less bubbles which I agree, in those ways it is better than regular old plaster. For my application the extra price is not worth it. Other reviewers said paint doesn't stick, I painted with a wash with cheap acrylic craft paint, and it took no problem. Used for diorama rock castings simulating crags and cliffs.

I rarely review products, but have to review this because it is so good. How can this be that different from Plaster of Paris? You'd be amazed... First of all, it casts beautifully. Very durable and lots of detail. More importantly, it has great adhesion to anything porous. And it can be thinned, colored (with universal tints or pure pigments) and painted on in layers without becoming flaky or brittle. The perfect plaster. I'm an artist and designer and have worked with many plasters and casting mediums. This is by far the best.

I returned this product because it came as a bagged mix that doesn't even explain the mixing ratios! It just says Mix, Pour, Finish.... The only useful information on the package is the safety warning which notes issues with irritation (yup! I am). It also notes to keep it away from kids and pets, so consider that with regards to your intended use.
