Adobe InDesign CS3 How-Tos: 100 Essential Techniques (Paperback) by John Cruise (Author) & Kelly Kordes Anton (Author) is a handy book to have around for beginners and near intermediate users. The book serves its purpose in presenting specific techniques in 2 - 4 pages. As such, you learn quickly and get your work done. As an advanced user, I found about half of the book to be info I already learned from other resources, but given how inexpensive this book is, it's certainly worth having on your shelf as a quick reference.

This book is an excellent choice for anyone - beginner to advanced users of InDesign. I started using InDesign when the first CS came out and I learned plenty from this book. Excellent choice for the price.

HASH(0xa875a9e4) out of 5 stars Nothing you can't get from a Deke book Dec 28 2007

The book is okay. However, you can get the same information from pretty much any basic Indesign primer. I'm a fan of the Deke books, and I would not recommend this book as a primer.

The nice thing about this book, though, is how it indexes each technique. It makes a handy reference manual. For that function, it's just fine.

If you need an instruction manual, buy one. If you need a reference manual, buy this.

HASH(0xa856c7c8) out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE BOOK June 17 2013

When I bought this book I still had the CS3 Design Suite, however, that being said, this book is PACKED with solid information on how to perform the tasks needed to produce a print ready document or book. I highly recommend this or the latest CS Suite one.
