Product Description

From the Back Cover

Since Lightroom first launched, Scott Kelby's "The Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers" has been the world's #1 best-selling Lightroom book. In this latest version for Lightroom 3, Scott uses his same step-by-step, plain-English style and layout to make learning Lightroom easy and fun. Scott doesn't just show you which sliders do what. Instead, by using the following three simple, yet brilliant, techniques that make it just an incredible learning tool, this book shows you how to create your own photography workflow using Lightroom:
1) Scott shares his own personal settings and studio-tested techniques. He trains thousands of Lightroom users at his "Lightroom Live!" tour and knows first hand what really works and what doesn't.
2) The entire book is laid out in a real workflow order with everything step by step, so you can begin using Lightroom like a pro from the start.
3) What really sets this book apart are the last two chapters. This is where Scott dramatically answers his #1 most-asked Lightroom question, which is: "Exactly what order am I supposed to do things in, and where does Photoshop fit in?" Plus, this is the first version of the book that includes his famous "7-Point System for Lightroom," which lets you focus on mastering just the seven most important editing techniques.
"The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Book for Digital Photographers" is the first and only book to bring the whole process together in such a clear, concise, and visual way.

Not too far into the book but it's in typical Scott Kelby style. WARNING Read the first couple of chapters about setting up your files & folders before you use the software. You'll be glad you did. Very much worth the money, this book is essential to get you up and running with Lightroom.

I have not made my way very far into it but so far so good. I like Kelby's enthusiasm although others have commented negatively at his attempmts to keep things light. Personally I don't mind a bit of humour in an otherwise potentially dry subject. Also I like his web support of his book. There are a few typos here and there which I found surprizing in what appears to be a quality publication. All in all I like it and would buy it again.

This is a wonderful book. Very well written and entertaining at the same time. Lots of colour photos so I can actually see what its supposed to look like and the index is very useful.
I do however, find the Table of Content very confusing so give up and refer to the index mostly. There are a few things I've noticed too that aren't explained in some of the processes. The things I've referred to are one way so some of the other items in the dialog boxes aren't explained. Ex. In the Exporting Files chapter on Page 224, Step Six explains Files settings but doesn't mention the "Limit File Size To" box. It appears to be set at 100 but why. Can it big larger or smaller?
Other than that I LOVE the book.

I use Scott Kelby's instructional books for photography and all things Adobe. He gives clear, step by step instruction and has an amusing sense of humour that makes them more than dry text books.
If you want to learn the ins & outs of the whole program OR just learn a couple of special effects this is the book for you!

Scott Kelby injects a little humour with his lessons, making them easy to follow. The book is beautifully illustrated which makes learning Lightroom 3 very easy. I keep this book near my computer and refer to it quite often for shortcuts and other features. His CS5 book is also a must-have.

Great book. Scott Kelby is an excellent instructor, a fine photographer, and I have several of his books; highly recommended if you need step-by-step Lightroom instruction. His humour could use a little work though...

Excellent document, articulate, in-depth, easy to follow, and let's not forget the humor, appropriately peppered to relieve the intensity of the material. A MUST have !
