I have many fitness books and I do like the way this one is written. The explanations are clear; the reasoning is good. The author is knowledgable in the way of a professional, rather than a one dimensional advocate of any one series of exercise and gives enough examples from her personal experience and clients to support her views. I am currently 60 years of age and am a life long fitness believer and have always been active. I also took a few years of dance and still take T'ai Chi classes once a week. When I broke my wrist last year, those are actually the exercises that I seemed to go to when the physio exercises didn't improve my condition past 70% full function and to relieve pain and to put me into a positive frame of mind.

I find it easier to exercise to a DVD rather than a book, so must admit that I only read the exercises in the book, but did not practice from it. On the strength of her reasoning and obvious experience in the book, I bought a series of DVD's from her site and have been practicing for 3 weeks. Great overall fitness and flexibility improvement ! And she is right; while you are improving your overall strength and flexibility, the particular pains start to resolve because you deal with the whole muscle and nerve chain rather than the site of pain. I can't believe the improvement in my thighs and butt -typically the areas that you give up on as you age. She is a positve and easy to understand DVD instructor and continues while she is leading the exercises, to give good explanations for what she is doing.

I challenge anyone to do her plie hip and quad exercises and not feel the burn. She also focuses on feet (dance background) - our very foundation - which few of my other exercise books pay much attention to .

A very detailed exercise book.

I just recently found out about this stretching program and I am intrigued by all that it claims to help with. The reviews of this book and related DVDs are impressive and inspiring too. I haven't had a chance to give a go yet, but I certainly plan to.

I have been an avid yoga fan for many years (I like Larry Payne's dvds in particular) and that certainly has helped with overall stretching. But from what I've read so far about Essentrics, this program takes stretching to a whole new level. I am always open to trying new health-related programs and products, if they seem credible and well-thought out. I think this one does.

I am planning to explore the dvds for this program, before I begin actually trying it. The photos and instructions in this kindle book ARE good but I always prefer dvds, when it comes to any exercise regime. I think it's so much easier, especially when starting with a new program.

If you are young read this book and save yourself a lot of grief. If you are older read this book and return to a pain free life. This woman is amazing. A breast cancer survivor, a chronic back pain survivor, a single mother with an amazing daughter. The book is pure gold and her DVD's are must haves. Her website is chock full of information and free workouts. Love classical stretch and essentrics.

Great book! I found the exercises were very well explained and easy to follow. I just started doing them and feel great. It really seems to be working just like she explains in the book. It is so great to exercise and feel great while doing it and afterwards. I really enjoy exercising for the first time! I normally hate exercising. Following this makes exercising enjoyable and it really does relieve aches and pains fast! Highly recommend it. I also ordered one of the DVDs which also helped to actually see the exercises being performed but I could not do it without the book. This way I could do it at my own pace.

While in Trinidad last February/early March I saw the program on PBS and so decided to purchase the book and follow the instructions. I am in my late, very late 60's and so began experiencing hip and shoulder pains, mainly at night. I have been very active and decided that I will not be taking any pain killers and so began seeking ways with diet and exercise to help me. Since I read the book and began following the instructions, I have noticed a considerable difference in my right hip and shoulder, both of which I was experiencing pains, nightly.

Great book with easy to read instructions and photo's, these are exercises that can be done every day that will help with the aches and pains that is a normal part of living and make a world of difference in how you feel, I must admit I was little bit sceptical about Ms White's claims at first but I like her philosophy and it makes sense once you get in to the exercises that a former dancer would know what it takes to stay strong and limber, I am in my seventies so a few of of the exercises are a stretch "pun intended" but she gently encourages the reader to do the the best they can without over doing it, a philosophy a heartily endorse.
