Disney’s beloved masterpiece will make your heart race and your spirit soar. Experience the laughter, adventure and Academy Award –winning music (1992: Best Music, Original Song, “A Whole New World,” Original Score) for the first time on Blu-ray and Digital HD. And now Aladdin shines even brighter with never-before-seen tributes to the enchanting talent of Robin Williams, the “Genius behind the Genie.”
Disney's 1992 animated feature is a triumph of wit and skill. The high-tech artwork and graphics look great, the characters are strong, the familiar story is nicely augmented with an interesting villain (Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman), and there's an incredible hook atop the whole thing: Robin Williams's frantically hilarious vocal performance as Aladdin's genie. Even if one isn't particularly moved by the love story between the title character (Scott Weinger) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Linda Larkin), you can easily get lost in Williams's improvisational energy and the equally entertaining performances of Freeman and Gilbert Gottfried (as Jafar's parrot). --Tom Keogh --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.See all Product Description

It's a story about Aladdin,a street rat, growing up in Agrabah, who leads a carefree life until he stumbles upon the Cave of Wonders and frees the Genie from his lamp. He also falls in love with Jasmine, daughter of the sultan of Agrabah. But not all is peaceful, for the vizier Jafar, along with his wisecracking parrot,Iago, plan disaster upon the Sultan,Jasmine and all of Agrabah. It's all typical Disney hilarity and the trademark Disney music that we all fell in love with in Disney's classics.
I will be for sure snagging this come October when it's release date arrives.
“Aladdin” finally arrives on blu-ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080p 1.85:1 encode. The transfer was stunning with vivid and vibrant colours that pop. Black levels are deep and inky. There is tremendous crisp details, from the crisp line art to every last tiny texture or touch in the background, the patterns on the flying carpet, the riches of the Cave of Wonders, or the splendor of the palace. There are minor hints of banding, but not distracting. (4.5/5)
“Aladdin” arrives in North America with DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio, which was an improvement to the Holland import with only 5.1 mix in 2013. The added channels create an engulfing feeling, especially during the musical numbers. Genie's "Friend Like Me" booms from every channel as the camera pans and rolls around the scene. Dialogue is clean, intelligible and smartly prioritized. Dynamics are excellent. This is an exciting and immersive soundtrack. (5/5)
Referring to Disney's North American blu-ray release of “Aladdin” as "highly anticipated" or "long awaited" would be a gross understatement. It was fun in watching Robin Williams bringing the Genie to life with the kind of madcap flare that only he can provide. Also, the choice of voices is outstanding: Scott Weinger (Aladdin), Linda Larkin (Jasmine) and Jonathan Freeman (Jafar). There are also many memorable songs, like “A Whole New World” (which won Oscar for Best Original Song by Alan Menken (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics) plus Oscar for Best Original Score for Alan Menken. There are two versions of “A Whole New World”: within the movie sung by Lea Salonga and Brad Kane, plus the pop version during the end credits by Regina Belle and Peabo Bryson (Billboard Hot 100 #1(1)/1992). Great movie.Read more ›
