Safe and comfortable. That about sums up Chloe’s life. Meeting a tall, dark stranger covered in tattoos is not in her plans. Bad boys just aren’t her type – even if they are gorgeous and built like a brick wall. Her internal alarms warn her that Aiden Hunter is definitely on the list of men her mother told her to avoid, but she doesn’t listen. Instead, she finds herself drawn to Aiden and the excitement he promises.

Near the beach in Miami, he occupies her days with thrills and her nights with passion she’s never experienced before. She knows he’s hiding something from her, but Chloe pushes away her concerns and embraces this new way of living.

As Aiden teaches her to live life to the fullest, Chloe battles the internal warnings that tell her to be wary. By the time she realizes her fears may be justified, it’s too late.

Aiden’s past is catching up to him, but is he the hunter or the hunted?

I'm a huge fan of this author and I've read everything she has published to date. Alarm is not quite what I expected from this author. She usually write her books from the male POV. In this one it's from the female POV.

Alarm is kinda a mystery/romance/action story. It sure kept me guessing. It's well written and yes... has a tattooed bad boys that you'll fall in love with.

I can't say i didn't like this book cause I did enjoy it. It just didn't feel like a Shay Savage book. Maybe cause it's written in the female POV. The punchy, harsh male perspective that only Shay can write was what I missed the most from this book.

With Ms. Savage among my top five authors, I was thrilled to see this new book come out. Alas, that was as good as it got.The prologue captured my attention and then I met Chloe Ellison. Chloe is straight-laced and uptight, living a structured life of boredom. I really hate railing on female characters…we ladies have to stick together but, it’s so hard when the MC is boring, judgmental and her internal rants were a bit too much…
Thank goodness, it did get better. Although it never felt like a Shay Savage novel to me (till this point, I’d LOVE everything I’d ever read of hers). Aiden Hunter was sweet and although he had his moments, he was not the panty-dropping dirty talker Shay promised and that I’d hoped for. Something tells me I might have given this more stars if it had been in Aiden’s POV. I would have likely had a deeper connection to Chloe; seeing her through Aiden’s eyes. While this was just an Okay read, I will def be reading more of Ms. Savage. Unfortunately, this one just left me wanting...

HASH(0xa5880594) out of 5 stars Not what I'm used to from this author but still good all the same.... Dec 8 2014

This was a little different. Not bad, just different than what I'm used to from Shay. I prefer her books from the male POV but that's just my own personal opinion. The story was good, the characters were great and of course the leading man was yummy. At this point I'm not sure there is anything Mrs.Savage CAN'T do. She's on my very short list of authors that are an automatic buy for me. I love everything she has put out. This one wasn't my favorite but I still really liked it and would absolutely recommend it.

HASH(0xa58807e0) out of 5 stars good story with likable characters Dec 8 2014

Everyone has their preferences and I love stories with jealous, possessive heroes who are very in love with their heroines and pursue them as opposed to the other way around. I initially read this book because I had read two of the author's books Surviving Raine and Offside and enjoyed them a lot. A few of the reasons that I enjoyed Surviving Raine and Offside lot is because besides a good story, the heroes were not cookie cutters and they were jealous possessive and totally in love with the heroines and not afraid to show it. They were also IMO unlikable until they met the heroines, who helped change them for the better. The hero in Alarm is different from the heroes in those two other stories. While he is not cookie cutter, I have read stories with heroes like him before. Also he was not unlikable before or after meeting the heroine, rather he was negatively impacted because of a bad experience and temporarily damaged. Also even though he fell for the heroine, right away and was protective, he did not display any jealously. However this was a good story that kept my attention the entire time. I stayed up way too late reading it. I felt empathy for both Aiden, the hero and Chloe, the heroine. While her experiences were not terrible, just unpleasant, it left a mark on her. It was pretty easy to figure out why Aiden was the way he was and I believe only Chloe insecurities that kept her from realizing what happened to Aiden. While I liked the HFN I would have enjoyed an epilogue that was at least 5 years into the future to confirm that Aiden was still doing well and recovering.

Do you like hot, tattooed, mysterious, dirty talking bad boys, yes then this is the book for you. Chloe is quiet, shy, reserved and repressed she knows that something is missing in her life but she is too scared to do anything about it then she meets Aiden / Hunter and everything changes. I loved that through Shay's writing we got to really know Chloe, I laughed when she was talking to herself. There is instant attraction despite how they met (very funny) and when they finally get it on I'm surprised the bed didn't burst into flames. Aiden is a complex character and my heart broke for him when we found out the reason for his pain, he sets out to teach Chloe that life is for living. When his past and present collide who will be left standing, will they be together and have a future or will Chloe go back to her safe life.

I just finished Alarm and I enjoyed it! It was one of those stories where you think you know what's going on but then you get pleasantly surprised. Chloe is as straightlaced as you can get. Never does anything spontaneously, afraid of things that might happen or what people may say. She meets Aiden at the bar and an alarm goes off in her head. He is nothing like she is used too. Fully tatted, big and muscular, not her norm. She sets prejudgment against him but feels something different with him but is hesitant. He has to go back to his home town and wants her to go with him. Why in the world would she do that? She has responsibilities. One thing leads to another and she goes! Even though she knows nothing about him and wants to keep feeling. They have secrets and obstacles to overcome. You will have to read and see what happens.

I really enjoyed this story. I will be honest. I went slow for me at first. I didn't really care of Chloe but once she lightened up she become more enjoyable for me to read. I'm so glad that I stuck with this story. Aiden is a freaking hottie. GAH! When they finally acknowledged their feelings....bam....he melted my heart...hell my I also loved the secondary characters. Lo, Mo, Redeye, my absolute favorites. They made the story more enjoyable. Made me laugh!

All I can tell you is that this story will make you think twice about how you judge things and situations. Grant it we shouldn't judge anyways but should make you think twice.

HASH(0xa5880f90) out of 5 stars Aiden is alarmingly HOTT! Dec 12 2014

Chloe Ellison lives a normal, safe, predictable & boring life working a job in Ohio, with a boss that doesn’t respect her and sucks the life out of her. When she meets a big, tattooed, muscled, and extremely hot guy, her internal alarms go off, warning her of danger, but at the same time, she shuts them off and takes a chance. He isn’t the normal type of guy that Chloe goes for, but nothing about what she is feeling is normal…it is so much more.

Aiden Hunter has muscles upon muscles and tattoos covering almost every inch of his body. It has been years since he has let anyone in to see the most caring parts of himself. But he immediately has some feelings for Chloe and wants to take time to explore them. So, on a whim he invites Chloe to fly to Miami and stay with him on a vacation.

During that vacation, Aiden opened up Chloe’s eyes to the life that she wasn’t living and the world that was just going on around her. They grow closer and closer. Chloe knows that Aiden is hiding things from her, because he freezes up when being questioned or just deflects all questions. She fears that he may be a criminal, but just doesn't know.

Things get a little haywire, and both Aiden & Chloe have to work at keeping their relationship going and being there for each other. It may take them a little while to find their grove, but as with all relationships, communication is key.

This isn’t the norm that readers have come to expect from Shay Savage, since this is her first book that is told solely from the female POV. I have to say, I really missed the male POV that she usually provides. That’s not to say that she can’t write from the female POV, because she can, but I prefer the male POV.

I found some parts of this book to just drag on. The amount of time that the heroine spent in her head was more than a little bit too much and I sometimes found her annoying. She seemed to border on being socially inept at times as well.
