I have to say, the game surprised me a lot of ways. The campaign, which almost everybody hated, turned out to the be most fun I had from a FPS in a long time. Do yourself a favor and do NOT play it by yourself. Go online, and you should still be able to find some other people who are playing it for the first time thanks the the rapidly falling price of the game. If possible, try to create your own game (might require some luck) and choose the hardest difficulty. Then enjoy the ride!
Easily one of the most fun, and funniest, co-op campaigns I have ever played, thanks to some very cool people I met who were willing to sit through the whole story with me. It reminds me a bit of playing Borderlands but with a more serious vibe, with some nice tension here and there. That's not to say there weren't massive problems with the game, but for the most part they were easy to ignore. The motion tracker is really cool, and so are some of the weapons.
Multiplayer, which I expected to be good, turned out to be somewhat of a mixed bag. The game modes are uninspired, except for Escape. There aren't enough maps (unless you buy DLCs). The alien controls are extremely buggy, and the ridiculous amount of (bad) aim assist made playing both sides kinda boring.
The game is also dead, from a community standpoint. Finding a game often takes several hours of searching, and praying. Co-op, as I mentioned, is still functional. However there is only the campaign and once you beat it there is very little reason to go back as it gets very predictable and easy.Read more ›

The game looks like it was made for the ps2, 10 years ago. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this game.Published on Oct. 5 2013 by roger carey
