Product Description

This is official Amazon Web Services (AWS) documentation for Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3). The Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) provides virtually limitless storage in the Internet. This guide introduces the basic concepts of Amazon S3, the bucket and the object. It walks you through the process of using the AWS Management Console, a browser-based graphical user interface, to create a bucket and then upload, view, move, and delete an object. This documentation is offered for free here as a Kindle book, or you can read it online or in PDF format at http://aws.amazon.com/documentation/s3/.

HASH(0x9aa8e03c) out of 5 stars Documentation needs a spring cleaning March 16 2013

Look, I think Amazon is a great company, and I love AWS. And there is a lot of great documentation on their web site. But honestly, it's pretty chaotic and there are many holes in their documentation. And the worst thing is that much of their documentation is undated, and so it's difficult to know what is current and what no longer works. It's a peculiarly lack of attention to detail which is surprising considering Amazon's investment in AWS. They really need to assign someone dedicated to cleaning up this junk pile.

This is obviously a guide for beginners, and I've read through it - and it definitely informs you on the things you need and want to know to understand Amazon's storage service -- I'm now using it, and loving! What a NICE backup solution.

this guide isn't a deep dive into the uses of this flexible cloud storage, but it will allow you to do what you most want to do- get started. A clear, careful guide to getting it on- online, that is.
