Well done Jesse Ventura.

Read this, Canadians; give the used copy to your Member of Parliament/Senator.

It is not the huge book it could be. There is a vast amount of material available about US Government lies.
Jesse kept it tight in order to attract readers made numb by mainstream media, TV in particular.

The real value of this book is that it is presented by outspoken former WWF wrestler, movie star, Governor Jesse Ventura.
The dust jacket shows handsome, rock-solid Jesse in a shiny black-leather jacket, inspiring character, integrity, defiance, no-holds-barred
determination. Jesse deserves the Nobel Prize, except that the prize has been sullied by war-mongers not fit to shine Governor Ventura's shoes.
No doubt, he will be attacked by many who refuse to look at the evidence; don't attack Jesse till you go to the notes and do the research.
Jesse will be able to hold his own in any attack since he had researcher, Dick Russell on his tag-team.

This book is a door-opener; go to "further reading" to find more about assassinations, bank fraud, CIA drug running, mind control,
stolen elections and state-sponsored terrorism. Canadians, Peter Dale Scott and Naomi Klein are recommended by Jesse.

Read more on:- Bush family connections to the Nazis.
Jury finds US Government agencies involvement in Martin Luther King Jr. murder conspiracy.
AIG and CIA and the financial tsunami.
US involvement in drug wars in Mexico and Afghanistan.
Bin Laden CIA asset up to 9/11.
Another angle on Watergate.

On page 31 Jesse makes two errors:
One, he names well-known JFK expert "David" Fetzer. Name should be Jim Fetzer.

Format: Hardcover
I'll admit that I was a Jesse Ventura fan as a kid, so this book was not too hard to like. Ventura is an afficianado of conspiracy theories. Not the really fringe stuff such as UFO's and Roswell, but the stuff that most people in this day and age have their doubts about. Stuff like the assassinations of JFK and Malcolm X. Stuff like 9/11.

The writing style can be a bit rough at times, but by and large this is an interesting read and a potential launch point to pick up some of the sources Ventura mentions in the book (and there are a lot). Ventura supplements his research with his own personal anecdotes and experiences as Governor of Minnesota. For example, Ventura once had a face-to-face one hour meeting with Fidel Castro, and could not resist asking him what he knew about JFK.

American Conspiracies will not make a believer out of a hard core debunker (nothing will). It will however allow you the chance to read possibly for the first time a lot of news stories and testimonies that have been buried. Some of Ventura's arguments are very well drawn and cogent. Others are not as convincing. Ventura's personal experiences with the CIA however are seldom friendly and usually forboding.

I do think that there are people behind the scenes running the show, I'm a part of that fringe, but I think most people today believe that all our governments lie to us on a daily basis. Nobody believes a politician anymore. So why read a book by the former Governor of Minnesota? Because he was an independant outside of the political structure. His perspective is different from the rest.

If you want some not-light but not-too-heavy summer reading, I would recommend American Conspiracies by Jesse Ventura. I plowed through this one in a weekend, I didn't want to put it down.

Jesse Ventura is a real American who has a lot of questions. Packed into this book are some of the most disturbingly unsolved governmental mysteries of our country. He dives into dozens of stories that we all have known about and in many cases did not know about. One of the most intriguing is the assassination of President Lincoln. What we were taught in school is just a scratch of the surface. Mr. Ventura goes into detail about the conspiracy that surrounded Lincoln's entire Presidency. Robert Redford's recent movie "The Conspirator" is a perfect example of how intricate the story is. There is plenty more, including the J. F. Kennedy and R. F. Kennedy assassinations as well as Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and more. Other heady stories include the Jonestown massacre; something we thought we all knew about. However, Mr. Ventura brings new light to the matter and the more he explains, the more you start to question what you thought you knew. The media is not 'all-telling'. Stolen elections of the last decade 'plus' are given a solid review here as well, showing that our government is no more trustworthy than any other. Of particular fascination to me was his expansive questions about 9/11, with almost too many questions about Building Seven, how the towers really might have fallen, who knew what, why was the Pentagon left with that circular hole, not befitting the crash of a jetliner, why NORAD was in Greenland that day, etc. Even Jesse Ventura was "investigated" by a mysterious group from Washington after he was elected governor - an almost humorous confrontation when he turns the tables on them.

Each subject is organized into three parts: The Incident, The Official Word and My Take (or Jesse Ventura's analysis).
