The FR-301 will feature a more efficient and robust heater for improved temperature recovery time while maintaining the same power consumption as it's predecessor FR-300. The nozzles used are N61 Series. Included in the case is a nozzle wrench, cleaning pin, replacement filters and iron holder.

This tool makes quick work of desoldering a broad range of electronic parts - taking seconds per connection and often without any other wicking required. I really like it because it has enough power to melt the solder on even a large pad quickly, completely clean the pad, and enough suction to pull solder through a double-sided board connection in one operation. Amazing tool that just works...

I spent 2 hours desoldering 4 caps on my vonage box this week and vowed to never fight with desoldering again...

I am done with wick braid and manual pumps.

Hakko means quality, period.

The unit has a lot of components you need to be aware of, but the instructions are clear. After studying the instructions for 10 minutes then I went on to practice on an old motherboard and removed all the fan headers in less than 5 minutes.

This tool is awesome and it just works out of the gate.

Ok, I don't know how I survived this long with a manual sucker pump and wick. This is a game changer.
It is an investment for sure, but if you are doing a lot of repairs and deal with a lot of through-hole, you probably won't regret it. I just love it, clean and easy removal of DIP16 in a heartbeat. Old RAM chips, an old M68000 to swap, a full board recap? Those things are now fun.
It is more expensive than some others but the finish and overall build quality is there.
EDIT: Removed one star as I realized they cheaped out on the power lead which is NOT heat resistant, will melt if it touches the gun (yes it can happen sometimes with heavy use and a busy workbench), which is the only negative point so far

This works amazing I don't know why I waited so long to buy one. It works amazingly well. Heat up the joint pull the trigger and your done and moving on to the next joint. It saves soo much time that it has already payed for itself by increasing my productivity. I also like how this is completely user serviceable and replacement parts are available directly from Hakko.

My only gripe with it is the genuine Hakko tips are a little on the pricy side ($30 when I bought them). But Hakko makes top quality products so they will last a long time.

Great price point for a great tool. Parts fit together just right. I desoldered a a bunch of parts very quickly with it. It sucks up the solder from through hold quad sided boards with ease and very cleanly. The results are just as good as our more expensive hakko desoldering stations we use at work. I am very pleased with it. If you have to do a fair bit of desoldering on a regular basis, this tool should be able to accommodate that well.

It heats up extremely quickly and makes short work of de-soldering everything. Often the pads look like they never had solder on them at all. I'm glad I went with the HAKKO and recommend it.
