The Amiable Cassandra: (The Bath Novels of Lady A~, Book 2) Kindle Edition
About the Author
Lady A~ is a nom de plume that was given to Jane Austen by the 'beau monde' because she would not reveal her identity as a writer. She wrote under the pen name 'A Lady'--hence the witty adaptation to 'Lady A~' by the fashionable. This modern-day Lady A~ not only pays homage to her literary muse in the wry anonymity of her pseudonym, but does so also in the purist 'Austenesque' style and genre of her work. Over a period of fifteen years she has convincingly created a unique companion collection, to JA's perfect six, of seven original novels entitled (collectively) 'The Bath Novels of Lady A~'. Lady A~ has been a scholar of Jane Austen's works for over three decades and, since publishing 'Merits and Mercenaries', the first of the Bath Novel 'Classic Companions', has established a dedicated, and steadily growing, Janeite fan base across the globe, spanning America to The Netherlands. --This text refers to the paperback edition.

Janeites Don’t Know What They Are Missing!Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 13, 2017
I can't understand why Janeites aren't absolutely flocking to this book and the whole Bath Novel series, and especially in this 200th anniversary year celebrating Jane Austen's life? You won't find a more fitting tribute to Jane Austen than in this glorious novel. 'The Amiable Cassandra' is a moving, beautifully crafted 'gift' to the Jane whose untimely death robbed us of the novels that could have been. It is impossible not to believe that Jane herself wrote these words and that it is she who is providing the key to what moved her, inspired her, and gave her profound insight into the human soul. Those that are steeped in the life and works of Austen will appreciate the meticulous research and the 'authenticity' of the wonderfully woven plot that is rooted in Jane's own life. It is an absolute pleasure to find it so perfectly rendered by Lady A~, whose writing style is almost spot-on Austen. For those who just love great page-turning emotionally charged fiction, TAC delivers! This is not a pastiche--like the vast majority of those dreadful Austenesque wannabes out there--this is the REAL thing! Buy it or miss out on the best novel since 'Pride and Prejudice'!
Jane Austen lives! - Or does she?Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 9, 2018
This is a hugely enjoyable ride through Jane Austen's world. The author plays all sorts of tricks - imagine if a (fictitious) Jane Austen wrote an autobiography dressed as a novel - this could be it! Those who know Jane Austen's history will have great fun spotting the references to her life and writing, but even those who don't can enjoy what is at heart a moving love story, with a surprising (perhaps?) ending.
Highly Entertaining Tale of Fictional Jane AustenReviewed in the United States on May 29, 2017
As a fan of the Bath Novels, this second book of the collection was just brilliant. Supposedly crafted by Jane Austen herself, it tells the story of Austen as 'Cassandra Ashton-Dennis', a celebrated (anonymous novelist) who becomes the heroine of her own love story while crafting the books we all know--and those we come to know as the 'Bath Novels'. The protagonists, Cassandra Ashton-Dennis and John Lascelles, are exceptional and the other diverse characters are very engaging; I particularly liked Cassandra's sister, Eliza, and her cousin, Charlotte de Lafayette. This is a highly entertaining must-read for summer.
