Product Description

For years, Amii Sloan has held a burning grudge against Ryan Maine for his cutting cross examination during her sister’s murder trial. Now, a chance encounter brings Ryan back into her life, along with a very interesting proposition—to work as his personal assistant in the idyllic
town of Unity.

Down on her luck, and supporting a mother with early onset dementia, Amii doesn’t have much of a choice but to accept the job Ryan offers. But can she overlook the past, to possibly open the door to a brighter future?

As she spends time with the handsome, successful lawyer, she realizes that maybe first impressions can be wrong, and that just maybe she and Ryan could share a whole lot more than she ever imagined.

HASH(0x9f3d4d80) out of 5 stars Fun Love Story March 28 2015
By Marsha @ Keeper Bookshelf - Published on
Format: Paperback
Amii never in a million years expected to run into Ryan Maine at a publicity party bash. Even less likely in her imagination was that he would ever try to talk to her or flirt with her. She lost no time in setting him straight. Ryan had been the defense lawyer for the scum that had murdered her sister. He had so badly torn apart her testimony that the jury did not convict her sister’s murder, who went on to kill other defenseless women. She had hated Ryan for nineteen years.

Ryan knew that he had just met his future wife. Oh, she didn’t know it yet, but Amii was the one. Now he just had to come up with a plan to convince her that he was no longer the man who she felt was responsible for her helping sister’s murder to go free.

Amii’s Angel was a quick read, but a very powerful one. Holding onto the past only messes up the future. As these two people let go of their past, they are able to come to love each other freely and make way for a shared future. Until Ryan does something stupid, even if it was with the best of intentions, that might have messed up that chance.

I enjoyed this couple’s story. Sure it got off to a rocky start, but Ryan had changed from the man the younger Amii had dealt with. Not everyone would even give this hero the time of day, but she used logic to eventually see the advantages to his job offer and took the risk. They each had baggage that was dealt with slowly but steadily. And eventually they each reached a sense of freedom that they had been searching for.

Short but intense, Amii’s Angel is a very good story that I would recommend to anyone who believes in second chances and that love can cure past hurts. I give it a 4 outta 5 on my rating scale. Pick it up, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

HASH(0x9f3d4d8c) out of 5 stars Gold from Natalie-Nicole Bates March 17 2015

Format: Kindle Edition
Amii Sloan is a thirty-something year old woman going through a reflective period in her life. Nothing seems to matter anymore to her with the exception of her mother, who is living in an assisted living facility -- one Amii's pays for. One night at a party, Amii's is perused by a man she cannot stand --Ryan Maine. Years earlier, Ryan cross examined Amii at the trial of her younger sister's killer, and she has despised him ever since. Ryan offers a solution to all of Amii's immediate problems, including a personal assistant job at his home in the picturesque town of Unity. Amii feels she has no choice but accept, but that doesn't mean she has to like it! But the more time she spends with her handsome, successful boss, the more she realizes he is not the monster she imagined him once to be, and that if she can let her guard down long enough, there might be a chance of a future together.

Amii's Angel is the newest novella in Natalie-Nicole Bates' Unity based books. The reader is presented with two characters completely different from the norm. You are not going to get the chest pounding, grunting alpha hero. No, you will get a sensitive, cultured man with a heart of gold. Both characters carry their own pasts and foibles, but they are both genuine and real. Nothing is light or fluffy in this novella. It is deep and interesting.

HASH(0x9f3d4b70) out of 5 stars Pretty Good Fast Read March 29 2015

Format: Kindle Edition
This was a pretty good fast read. I was bothered that parts of the book seemed to be written a bit imatuarly while others were extremely hot. It was almost like two different people were writing. At times Amii and Ryan's characters where acting like teenagers even though both were aged in their 30's ans 40's in the book with how they were acting and talking and other times they were acting their age. I did not get the feeling this was part of the characters profile but the writers style and for me it was a bit of a turnoff and costed the author that fifth star.
Overall the romance was good but as I said I did not like the flow of the writing style. The love scenes were hot. I will give this book four out of five stars because I can't do three point five which is what I really want to give it and three is just too low.

HASH(0x9f3d78dc) out of 5 stars Great novella March 17 2015

A fun and somewhat erotic ride through the fictional town of Unity. Great, unique characters and a plot that will keep you interested await you. But it is all about the romance here.

Great story about letting go of the past, allowing you to embrace the future, not every first impression is true, and sometimes you have to take a closer look.

Amii unexpectedly runs into a man who helped ruin her world and destroy her soul. Having thought she had moved on, it was a shock to feel the bitter ugly feelings rise up. Will she be able to move on when offered everything she wants and needs? Maybe everything isn't as it seems at first glance but then again, does anyone ever change.

Ryan was a successful lawyer, never caring about anyone or anything except himself. After changing his life, he's ready for a family. A chance run in with Ammi and he knows she's the one. But first he has to figure out why she hates him and how to change that.
