HASH(0x9dbbe018) out of 5 stars The girl of Green Gables May 10 2013
A Kid's Review - Published on
Format: Paperback
A ugly girl with red hair who was expected to be a boy, was adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. Anne of Green Gables, an orphan, had to imagine company her whole life, so she had to learn to play with real friends instead of her imaginary buddies. As she grew up, she formed a rivalry with a boy, Gilbert, and determined to beat him, became the smartest person on her whole island! This story is based in Canada during the 1800's.

Anne of Green Gables is a hilarious book! Her pride led to many unfortunate episodes such as, she fell off a roof because "my honor is at stake" and she seriously insulted adults for calling her skimpy and ugly.

All in all, it's an excellent book. I hope this review helps!

HASH(0x9dabd870) out of 5 stars Anne of Green Gables Sept. 18 2013

I really like these abridged version of the children's classic. They are relatively inexpensive and not to over-whelming for a young reader. My daughter is 7 and reading on a 3rd to 4th grade level. She reads the Bible, the newspaper, etc. She has read the unabridged version of C. S. Lewis's, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." However, these little books keep her reading more and more.

I purchased this book for my 10 year old granddaughter and gave it to her along with some items from Prince Edward Island. She is interested in getting some of the companion stories and having some history about the author and where she lived (pictures) it made the story come alive for her!
