Part Three of this saga was really intense and full of action, which is definitely going to be appealing to a middle grade reader. Aoleon and Gilbert make a discover about this planet and their milk supply, which answers a few questions that were raised previously. They also find themselves in a very scary situation while Aoleon is taking her flight test. I had no idea how it would all resolve and was surprised at the twist. And finally, Gilbert gets to skyboard for the first time...only to be caught in the middle of a chase. Each one of these events had me flipping pages to see how it would all end up. There are a few more elements to the mystery to wrap up and I know the last two installments are going to be really good getting to that point.

Once again, the graphics don't disappoint and they're as detailed as ever. I still can't get over how vivid the colors are and how minute details are done and I spend several minutes examining each illustration. My favorites in this book were the ones in the skyboarding scene.

I enjoy these books because they really engage my imagination and draw me into the story. I'm not creative and I can really appreciate the author's way of taking some things familiar and putting a spin on them to trigger that thirst for knowledge in a younger reader. I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends up.

Content: there is some mild violence that isn't graphic.

Aoléon The Martian Girl: Part 3 The Hollow Moon marks the mid-point in the Aoleon The Martian Girl series and it's by far the most exciting book in the Brent LeVasseur series to date.

The further you get into these books, the more zany and addictive the whole storyline becomes!

The Hollow Moon builds upon everything that you've learned about Aoléon, Gilbert, and the political, social and cultural climate of Mars to date. If you haven't read the first two books in the series, trust me - you need to do so before reading this book!

In The Hollow Moon, Aoléon and Gilbert continue on the dangerous mission that Pax - Mar's most wanted rebel - has tasked them with. Their job is to gather undercover intelligence about the Luminon's plans so that they can expose him and prevent a pending invasion on Terra (Earth)!

This mission leads to shocking discoveries about the true identity of the Luminon - the scope of his military powers - and the depth of his plans.

In this action-packed book, Aoléon and Gilbert find themselves in constant danger - and on the run - as their cover is blown, their undercover activities are revealed, and they are betrayed by those that they least suspect!

In a world where the evil Luminon will stop at nothing to disrupt Mars galact supply, invade a neighboring planet, and steal all of Earth's milk cows, can anyone - especially a teenage Earth boy, a mischievous Martian girl, and even an undercover Martian pizza delivery boy - really save the day?

And - what will happen when Aoléon and Gilbert discover that they aren't the only ones in deep trouble...

Part 3 of the Martian Girl adventure was pretty exciting! So much better for me than the second part as there is a lot more action in this one.

Aoléon and Gilbert are off on a grand adventure whether they want to be or not. Their is a plot a brewing and something is not right with the Luminon and Luminess. Gilbert has seen them both looking different but not sure what he is seeing. Now they are wanting to get rid of the rebellion and sabotage the Galackworks. Aoléon’s dad works there so they must go save him.

Then after that it’s time for Aoléon’s pilot’s test but things go wrong when they are attacked by Draconian who have been planning an invasion! Will Aoléon and Gilbert survive to be able to tell others?

Hollow Moon was so much more fun to read than the second part was for me as I just wasn’t into all that scientific detail. This part has a lot of action and a lot of fun. I am still very amazed at the illustrations done by the author himself as they are so vibrant and colorful. The evil Draconian looked so evil it was great.

If your children are into science fiction then they will really love The Martian Girl and even though it’s called The Martian Girl it has a boy in it so I think that young boys will like this book as well as girls.

Aoléon the Martian Girl
The Hollow Moon Part 3
By Brent LeVasseur

Gilbert Sullivan is just an ordinary boy who lives in Nebraska. At least he was until that night. The night he met Aoléon, the night he went to Mars.

Something is wrong on Mars and Aoléon and Gilbert are about to investigate just what it is. After all Pax, head of the resistence has specifically requested their assistance. Their investigation will take them from within the Luminon to the Galactworks to the moon Phobos.

An ancient threat has hidden itself within Martian society and Aoléon and Gilbert may be the only hope for Mars, Earth and the Sol solar system. But they need to survive and elude those who wish to stop them first.

The fate of the solar system and perhaps the universe depends on what Aoléon and Gilbert do next...

Aoléon the Martian Girl should appeal to preteens and young teens alike. The illustrations throughout are colorful and fun. Though not a graphic novel the illustrations will be an added plus for those who appreciate illustrations throughout their reading journey.

The danger and excitement continues...
