HASH(0x9b8eec78) out of 5 stars A young and dynamic Handel Sept. 25 2009
By John Underwood - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
A lively and stylish interpretation of a work from the time Handel, "il caro Sassone", was in his twenties and a hit among the leaders of Roman society. The conducting gives the whole thing the required lift and precision, and the singers are up to scratch, though the baritone's Italian pronunciation leaves something to be desired. The soprano is terrific - a warm and human sound.

Very good recording with excellent singing by Helen Donath and Peter Runge as well as fine orchestral playing with conductor Gunther Wich. The enclosed booklet includes a libretto in English and Italian.
