I have purchased about 6 different DK visual dictionaries from this series, and they are all wonderful. The Arabic, as well as the Mandarin Chinese ones have the transliterations along with the english word and the native script, so you know how to say the words using the english alphabet. You can start speaking the words right from the start, which is what most people want to do! You will need another book in order to create proper sentences, but vocabulary is where you want to start in any new language, and this will teach you thousands of words, and get you excited and motivated to move forward!

Overall, a great book to have to help get around in an Arabic-speaking country.

Tons and tons of vocabulary words on many different subjects, and with a pronunciation guide for English to Arabic.

Unfortunately, the typeface is very small and may be difficult to read for some, including the elderly. I brought it to an elderly Arabic neighbor's house and she was unable to read any of the words.

Although it arrived in perfect condition, these days it's looking a little worse for wear.
Only because I bring it with me everywhere - to work, on the subway, grocery shopping.
Because you never know when a question like "How do you say broccoli in Arabic?" is going to pop into your head.

I purchased this book along with "The Arabic Alphabet" to gift for Christmas.
My partner and I hope to take a trip to Egypt in the future - she loves the language and I thought these books would be a great way for us to spend time together while trying to learn the language.
