Small but works for pine pellets. I ended up using the sifter in a taller rubbermade container. The original pans are good for baby cats. I have a full sized Siberian cat and she would pee over the edge if the pan isn’t taller. I’ve enclosed a picture of my hack. In hindsight, it’s rather expensive to pay 50$ Cndn for a sifter but I didn’t feel like drilling holes in a pan to make my own homemade sifter

To anyone who wants to know if this will work with wood pellets, it does!! and it does it like a boss! Less than 2 mins to fully clean litter. I hope they make a bigger one, I have a feeling my F3 Savannah is going to out grow it.

We have two cats and had two large covered litter boxes. We ordered this one as a trial to replace the box that was used less often.
The box arrived very quickly, but it was damaged. The return was super easy and our replacement arrived a few days later. It instantly became the cats' favourite, so we ordered another.
The boxes are very easy to clean and make that job much more bearable. The clips on the side are designed to hold all three layers together, but the boxes fit together well and we don't really use them. If your cats are anything like ours, you'll probably still want a good scoop for those times when the clumping litter gets stuck to the sides, especially in the corners, but that's just par for the course.
When it comes time to replace, we'll probably just keep ordering this brand.

I was really skeptical about this purchase but I am SO happy I decided to buy this litter box.
I have 3 cats, who all eat like pigs, so changing my two litterboxes can be daunting but with this litterbox it literally takes 20 seconds to have the litter perfectly scooped.
It is a little small, so I'm still using my old boxes (the ones with a lid) and I'm using this box as a replacement for the scooper. (Yes - $40 is expensive for a scooper but YES it's worth it).
My maid even approached me to ask where I got it and how much it was; and to rave about it because it made changing the litter so effortless.
Tip: dont put the strainer under the litter while it's in use, dump used litter into the strainer (above one of the boxes) and sift. Nothing gets stuck. :)

When first opened the box, had to remove many plastic filings and residue still attached to the litter box. I have kittens and I didn't want them to chew or choke on them.
Next, the urine clumps stick to the inside walls and perforated bottom which is a disapointment. Need to pull out the old poop scoop to get rid of that, which defeats the purpose.
Finally, the holes in the bottom are way too big, they let through smaller chunks which calls for the poop scoop to clean the litter, defeating the purpose again.
Overall, not really impressed with this. I don't save time since I have to manyally manage the shortcomings of this product. I might go back to the old standard litter box with the scoop.
The only thing I like about it is that it's deep so I can pour alot of litter into it since my kittens tend to dig tunnels to do their business.

This is supposed to be a large but large is a regular size.
I have a large cat and this is to small for her.
Great idea but to small and the side are way to low.
Cats will make a mess!

This litter pan has extra high sides and the holes are perfect...I use wood pellets and the holes only allow just the sawdust to go through and not the pellets. Since I'm using wood pellets, a higher bottom pan would have been a good feature.

this litter box is smaller than expected, even though its the "large size". It would be okay for one med size cat. Definitely too small for multiple cats. I find the sifting system to be more work than just scooping. Its heavy to pour it over the sifter, and sometimes large clumps fall out and make a mess. I've stopped using this litter box.

GREAT for pine pellet litter box!!!!
Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2018Verified Purchase
We are a cat loving family, and have 3. I bought this litter box after being incredibly frustrated with the horrible ongoing litter box smell in our home, plus the fact that we spend so much money every month on cat litter. We tried many sprays, powders, and scented scoopable litters, but nothing got rid of the smell. We were also tired of stepping on litter around the litter box constantly regardless of the fact that we had a fully enclosed litter box and would sweep around it more than once a day.
How to:
Purchase "Pine Pellet Bedding". We got a 40lb bag from Tractor Supply for $5.99. Line the bottom tray with a garbage bag (our normal drawstring tall kitchen bags work for this). Fill the top tray with the pine pellets. In order to make this work, you have to put some wood chunks or something similar, on the bottom tray under the plastic bag liner (see pic). Just make sure the wood is thick enough to ensure there is a couple of inches between the two trays.
Each time you scoop the box (for poop), you shake the top tray around and all of the "urine dust" falls and is collected in the bottom tray. When the cat/s urinate in the box, it causes the pellets to immediately reduce to a dust. We have been using this set up for over a week and still not had to change out the plastic bag liner in the bottom tray, there is zero urine scent.
The best part of this set up, in my opinion, is the fact that you never have to change out all of the pellets. You just keep adding new pellets in as needed. With our old traditional litter box set up, I would have to dump all of the litter at least once a week and refill due to the odor.
We have been using this set up for over a week and I have not smelled any cat urine smell whatsoever! When the cat/s poop, that has to be scooped out and tossed like in a normal litter box- because the poop does not get covered in litter, it does smell a little worse than a traditional litter box.
There is a light pine smell due to the pellets, and overall the box smells so much better than our old traditional box (but when the cat/s poop, you want to get it out as soon as you can due to smell). I occasionally find some pellets that have been kicked out of the box but nothing compared to the amount of litter that would be kicked out throughout each day- and this is an open box as opposed to our old enclosed box.
My experience with this set up has been GREAT. I wouldn't even think about going back to our old litter box set up. We will also be saving so much money every month it's ridiculous.
Maybe now we can get a couple more cats? LOL.

Not "large" enough - even for kittens!
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2018Verified Purchase
At first, I thought this was great, and even bought a second one for the two new 6 month old kittens we just adopted. It definitely works as advertised and filters through the cat litter leaving clumps behind, BUT the problem is it is just TOO SMALL even for kittens. As soon as they were introduced to the rest of the house, and our other fully grown, but not very large cat they rejected these litter boxes in favor of the other cat's larger litter box which doesn't have sifting pans.
Three other things: 1) Don't expect this to sift out every little bit of feces. Smaller bits inevitably make it through the sifting process. Not sure there's anything you can do about this problem as even scoopers have this issue. Sh*T happens! =) 2) If the manufacturers made a bigger version of this, I'd definitely buy it, but they really need to stop calling it "large"! 3) The other suggestion I have is that the addition of a guard or even deeper pan to keep the kitties from pushing litter out of the side would be great.

WORKS for PINE LITTER with small modification
Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2018Verified Purchase
I was looking for a sifting box for our pine litter. This sifter is the perfect size so that the saw dust falls thru and the pellets stay on top. I hot-glued some foam pieces to the underside of the top-sifter which gives me about 1" beneath the sifter for the sawdust to accumulate in. Without this space -- there is only about .25" between pan and sifter and it doesn't really work.
The only issue I see is that this works for 2 kittens -- but I'll be looking for a larger version of this litter box for when my cats are full grown.

These changed my life: Cat mom honest review
Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2018Verified Purchase
I am a cat mom and my cats are very important to me. Having a clean litter box is a very important responsibility as it can impact your cats health and wellbeing. Cleaning the litter boxes was the worst thing on my chore list. It took long and I just overall hated doing it. I have 3 cats and had 6 litter boxes for them. I went through a box of cat litter a week at about $15 per box of litter. I spent 45 plus minutes scooping each litter box. I bought 1 sifting litter box to try it out and let me tell you it was life changing! I wish I had purchased sooner. Takes me 10-15 minutes to clean 5 boxes and I buy my cat litter once every 3 weeks now. You get 2 boxes and 1 sifter. I really only needed the sifter and an extra box. I did end up buying 2 more of these. With this sifter, I threw away my old litter boxes, I am now able to get away with only having 5 active litter boxes for my cats to use, I have saved time on my Sundays cleaning the boxes, and I am able to clean the empty box weekly of any leftover debris stuck on the extra box not in use for that week. I know they will always have a clean litter box which is important to me. Yes some of the clumps stick to the sides which I read in other reviews before buying. Honestly that makes it easier becaue you can scrape it off right into the garbage so it doesn't get sifted back into the clean litter. I highly recommend this product and it is great if you have more than one little box in your household. I have saved time and money with using this product.
