Alright, but not great

The excised material is informative, but Price's introduction isn't really worth reading. He says Jomini is unclear, and cites "according to legend" as proof, when I have found Jomini to be one of the clearest writers I have ever read. Like the philosopher Spinoza, when Jomini introduces a term he promptly defines it. The actual text is little more than a reprint of the 1862 West Point translation, but with some spelling errors introduced, and at least one misquote (p. 110, "wherever a titan can set hs foot; titan should be man). It is truly useful if you have a second book on Napoleonic battles, and good for any wargamers, and cheaper than the Greenhill Books edition.
