"If you follow a structured routine, you will solve all your baby problems" is the idea of this book.

The routine explained in the book is called E.A.S.Y. (Eating, Activity, Sleeping, You). The author explains that the times of the individual elements of the routine will vary according to the baby, but every baby should have a routine if you want to have a life. Eating, Activity, Sleeping and Making Time for yourself are very well explained in the book in an easy-to-read way.

If you are breastfeeding, you may not feel any support reading this book, and I can even say that you may get discouraged reading some sections. Although I do not agree with some of the author's ideas on feeding, I would recommend this book if you are looking to establish sleep routines for your baby. I would not use this book as my only source of information on topics mentioned in the book.

The best of all the baby books out there. Tracy saved us from the despair that came with having a fussy child. If not for her E.A.S.Y method I have no idea how we would have survived. I ordered stacks of baby books and can save you money from doing the same by giving you my summary of them.
Happiest Baby on The Block - 5 S's...easily found on YouTube and watched through tears.
Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child - Cry it out method. Let your baby cry until they barf. Not for the faint of heart.
What to expect what when you're expecting - AKA the book that will make you fear everything. Especially cat litter.
Anything by Dr. Sears - great if you plan on subscribing 100% to attachment parenting. So like if don't plan on going back to work or say, have a date night with your husband any time during the first 2.5 year of your baby's life
The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems - THE BABY BIBLE. Only book you will need. She gets it. This woman really gets it.

Good luck!

I am deeply saddened by Tracy's untimely death just a few months ago. It is comforting to keep in mind that her knowledge and advice in her books and videos will continue to guide parents in a positive direction.
Tracy had the "know-how" of calming even the most challenging infant, because she really seemed to understand their language. Because she offered strategies based on the personality of the parents as well as the temperament and personality of the baby, she offers quizes in this book to help parents identify which intervention plan would work best. Believing that babies need to become part of the family - rather than dominate it - Tracy has developed a practical program that parents can begin using at one day old.
My only criticism of this book is that there was not enough information relating to specific challenging behaviors of my 3- year-old. The title implies that this book covers issues through age 3. I found the majority of the book addresses a variety of issues focusing on babies under 2.
If you have a 2, 3, 4, or 5-year-old, I wish to recommend an A-Z pocket-sized guide I discovered in my pediatrician's office called "The Pocket Parent." This book is written entirely for parents with 2-6 year olds and offers hundreds of suggestions that focus on stopping toddler/preschooler behaviors that can drive you close to your wit's end such as bad words, biting, tantrums, sibling fights, the gimmes, morning crazies, power struggles, lying and whining. Both books address what to do in the heat of the moment as well as how to make a plan to prevent the same behavior from happening again; I found that insight very helpful. Both "THE BABY WHISPERER SOLVES ALL YOUR PROBLEMS" and "THE POCKET PARENT" are excellent additions to your home reference library.

Very thorough. I buy this book for all my newly pregnant friends. I used her sleep schedule and it worked very well when you stick with it. I followed the cry it out process as well. I know it isn't for everyone and the author was clear on that. Once my baby figured out how to go to sleep on her own (and it took one day) she slept through the night from that point on. I no longer had to rock her to sleep for 45 mins then get up every 45 mins when she woke up without a soother in her mouth.

This book is overly prescriptive, and presumes all babies should be on the exact same schedule. If you practise baby-led anything (eg. Feeding on demand) be prepared to feel like a terrible parent. Author is absolutely militant- I find her tone condescending and patronizing. It's hard to believe Hogg has had so much commercial success. I was shocked (and a little disturbed) by her approach and perspective on babies, and overall quite disappointed by this book.

I love this book. It is quite extensive but the information is so valuable. The book was recommended to me when I was pregnant by a co-worker. I bought is and began browsing through it after my son was born. I have gained so much helpful information that I wish I had started reading it before I with into delivery. I have since recommended the book to everyone I know and have bought 3 copies for some of my friends that are new mothers. The book helped me to put my son to sleep through the night.
