HASH(0x9fc5fba0) out of 5 stars Be Cool is Cool Dec 6 2015
By AwesomeDude - Published on
I know this DVD isn't out yet, but I've seen all the episodes on it, and this new series is great. People really hate the character design, but I think it's fine and the monster design and animation is excellent. The voices are good, I do miss the old Velma, but the new voice isn't bad. The stories are good, and overall, the series is too. It's like the classic show.

HASH(0x9f775930) out of 5 stars this season is our favorite, by far Jan. 25 2016

Of all the previous seasons (including when I was a kid), this season is my family's favorite, by far. Unlike older versions, the humor is really quite good at times. We’ve always considered prior seasons okay but not a huge appeal. I know everyone has different tastes regarding humor, but we found the dialog much wittier than older versions. There is an element of parody in them that made us laugh. It’s as if the writers were having fun and put fresh effort into it. And by more humor I do not mean more potty-humor. It felt more wholesome than previous seasons in my opinion. There was none of that awkward tween stuff they experimented with in recent years. I believe these would be appropriate for kids of any age according to how well the child does with the normal ghosts and bad guys (pretty similar to all seasons). Our older ones liked them too and are looking forward to the DVD.

The characters have undergone an intentionally simplistic artistic re-design. This may put some off at first, but I prefer it. To me, the simpler feel fits the quirkiness of the superior script and dialog. It also makes it easier to distinguish from other versions for those of us who find the older ones only fair.

HASH(0xa43043e4) out of 5 stars Must Have for Scooby Doo Fan Jan. 21 2016
By Grace - Published on
I have been a Scooby Doo fan for over a decade, I couldn't miss out on another reboot. Love that they are re-doing it again and I thought the new animation was weird at first but the characters and their lines really made the show fun for me. I like this one more than Mystery Incorporated Inc. (which I thought was a little too dramatic for my tastes).

This may just seem like another re-run but it is actually very different from the others. After the original and What's New Scooby Doo, this is my favorite re-run so far. The different animation style will throw you off at first, it might even be unappealing and offensive to the original artwork. However the character development and their dialogue really makes up for anything I thought was lacking from this series. I found myself laughing through every episode and it got me to enjoy Scooby Doo again, despite being in college now. It is much wittier and funnier than any Scooby Doo re-run they have made and it's not just brain-dead humor at all, it's very well crafted and witty humor. The less dramatic, funnier themed Scooby Doo also appeals to younger kids as well.

After enjoying the season with lots of fun and laughs, I didn't mind the new animation at all and now that I look at it, I think it's quite modern looking and appropriate. But it definitely will take time getting used to and getting over!

I was quite skeptical of this series when I first saw the promo material, the animation looked terrible and it seemed they they were going to make Scooby-Doo into a crappy sitcom. After the brilliance that was Mystery Incorporated, I felt certain that this would disappoint. Well, it is lighter and fluffier than Mystery Inc, but to my grand surprise Be Cool is magnificent. The humor is mostly spot on, occasionally a joke will fall flat but most of them make me smile, and there are big laughs scattered throughout each episode. The animation I didn't like at first, but it quickly grew on me, and the monsters look really cool.

Some people have mentioned that Daphne is stupid in this show, but I don't think so. Rather she seemed perfectly intelligent just highly eccentric and unpredictable. In fact I think she's the best thing about the show, and her moments are responsible for the lion's share of the laughs. If there's one flaw with the show it's that the new voice actress for Velma has yet to impress me, perhaps I'm too used to Where Are You and Mystery Incorporated but she just sounds... wrong somehow.

Is it as great as Mystery Incorporated? Well, no. But it comes far closer than I expected, and I truly hope that Be Cool Scooby Doo will get at least one more season.
