I knew the exact moment I had become a ‘yes’ girl.
December 16th, a cold winter’s night, four years ago.
The night my innocence was stolen, the night I made the mistake of saying no—a mistake I’d never make again.
The dream of a ‘happily ever after' was now a locked away myth. I promised myself that I’d never return to the place of my worst nightmare, that I’d never let anyone get close, but then again, I never thought I’d meet someone like him.
The intense, confident and beautiful Ky Crawford.

I had no plans to become someone’s Prince Charming.
I couldn’t be. I refused to be. My plan was simple—do whatever it takes to correct my biggest mistake, my one regret that now controlled my life.
I was on track. I had plans, but then everything changed when I saw her—the girl in the red jacket, the girl who I was told couldn’t say no.
The reserved yet stunning Eden Rivers.

A girl who can’t say no.
A guy who craves redemption.
A chance encounter?

It all comes down to this.
One question.
One month.

Be My December?

About the Author

Rachel Brookes is from a coastal town on the east coast of Australia where beaches, kangaroos and surfers roam free. She writes angst ridden love stories with a pinch of craziness, a dash of drama, a cup of romance, a spoonful of sexiness and the main ingredient hot guys. Rachel sometimes forgets to eat, sometimes forgets to sleep and sometimes can't remember the last time she cleaned her apartment but that's because she is in a long term relationship with her laptop and they are constantly writing together. When she does step away from her laptop she can be found taking too many photos, making scrumptious cocktails, laughing at Adam Sandler movies and spending her time with her amazing family and friends. This is the second book by Rachel Brooks that I've read and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed both of them ,but this on I was totally blown away with this one. Rachel has such away with words that they grab a hold of you right from the very first page until the very end of the story. Rachel's write skills make's her work a pleasure to read, and she has a way that transports you into the story. The characters are so well evolved and developed that make's them amazing together and the secondary character were all strong and worked well in this story. This is Ky Crawford and Eden Rivers story .As you meet Eden you discover that she has been living in a bubble for the past 4 years following a horrible rape at college . She has just been getting by on painting on her emotions these days. Then there's Ky who meets Eden, and has vowed to break her wall down that she has built around herself after the rape, all he wants is to get her to live again and to stop her from locking herself away from the world. But Ky has some secrets also and nightmares most night, that he has bottled up inside him and some demons he needs to get through. These two seem to have a ultimate bond that seems unbreakable or is it? I could go on and tell you more about this amazing story and about this special couple ,but that would spoil the story for you .I highly recommend that you read this amazing story, you won't be disappointed.

I loved this story. I loved Ky! I felt for Eden and loved how she came out of her shell.

I can't wait for Josh's story next. And Colby's and Blake's.

Hehe.

HASH(0xa4d48048) out of 5 stars Rachel Brookes has out done herself with this one!!! Heartbreakingly beautiful!! Aug. 28 2014
By Tiffany Williams - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
"...As the perfect world I knew was destroyed, I ceased to exist as Eden Rivers...From that moment on, I would become a yes girl-as saying no seemed to be the worst decision I ever made."

December 16th is just a regular day for most people, but for Eden Rivers, it's the day her world stopped and she would no longer be the same. Her choices were taken from her that day, and she lived the next four years of her life hidden behind a facade that had yet to be torn down...Until now.

The day that Ky Crawford watched Eden Rivers walk into his life, he knew he was a goner. He saw past all the walls she had built up and he was determined to knock them down. He would do anything to protect her. He never considered himself a hero, if anything, he felt like he had something to prove. He needed to show this beautifully, broken girl that she needed to live again. The only problem was, he himself, was a beautiful disaster.

They had a month together. A lot can happen in a month.

You pull for these characters. You see them each struggle with their own battles. You want them to win; to come out on top. Ky's trying his best to show Eden that she is always in control of her life. She doesn't have to do what everyone wants to just because she's afraid of the outcome.

"I had no choice."
"You always have a choice."

Ky Crawford. Can I just say that he epitomizes protector? He's amazing!! He is everything Eden didn't know that she needed.
Ky pushed his own struggles aside to make sure she had everything and anything she needed. But how much can one person handle? Emotions are tough especially when you're not paying attention.

"I'm completely lost in you Eden, and I don't think I ever want to be found."

Gahhhhh! I can't tell you how many times that I wanted to crawl into this book and hug them! Ky and Eden had an amazing connection and you could see the love blooming between them. Buuuuuuuut...The past can be a big "bee with an itch".

How can you move forward when your past keeps pulling you back?

"You are wrecking me, Eden Rivers."
Truth be told, he was the one wrecking me.

December. One month. One decision. Two broken souls.
What would you do if you had one shot to change your biggest mistake?
Would you take that chance?
Would you risk everything you've faught against just to bring life to another?

Sometimes second chances are just that...chances.

If you think you have read the best from Rachel Brookes, think again. This was hands down her best novel yet! I was so emotionally involved throughout this entire book. This is not an easy book to read. Meaning that there are some very tough and scary issues that are addressed, and you find yourself holding your breath as you turn the page. I can't tell you how many times I cried. Rachel made me feel what Ky and Eden felt. I felt their pain, cried their tears and held them tightly in my mind. It's truly beautiful how she handled these situations. I applaude you, Ms. Brookes!

Also, the secondary charactes are freakin' amazing!!! Josh Crawford. Lawdy mecry! Having both Crawford men in one book was hottness overload;) Ashlyn was such a perfect companion for the boys, and to Eden. She's a spitfire and she knows how to handle those Crawfords. You also get a few visits from some old friends! Let me just say...Rachel made me soooooo happy with bringing in a certain hottie from the past;)

This book was not a typical love story. There isn't a perfect start to Ky and Eden's story, but there is passion, forgiveness and a lot of learning to live again.
I recommend this book to everyone! It gets five wonderful stars and I can't wait for the continuing story:)

"Please find peace with me."
"The way you are looking at me now, gives me the peace I've been looking for the past four years."

I'm not a writer, I'm a reader and that's why it makes life difficult to write reviews for books like Be My December because nothing I write can ever put across how good a book this was.

Rachel has such a way with words that she grabs hold of you on page one and doesn't let go until the end. Her writing skills are second to none and makes reading her work such a pleasure as you are just transported into the story.

This is Ky Crawford and Eden Rivers story. When we meet Eden we discover that she's been living in a bubble for the last four years following her rape at College and has just about been getting by in life by painting on her emotions every day. When she meets Ky, he vows to break through her walls and help her start really living again. Of course, Ky has his own secrets bottled up and demons to face.

I was touched by both Ky and Eden in this story which is rarity as I often find myself drawn to one character more so than the other. It was so not the case in Be My December and I found myself really routing for both characters from start to finish. There were times I could have just jumped into the pages and wrapped them both up. The development of their story together is just perfect. It's paced perfectly and their build from fiends to something more just helps with sucking you into everything that is Ky and Eden.

I also enjoyed the secondary characters in this book and they were just that, secondary characters that helped develop Ky and Eden's story as opposed to taking over. Sometimes I enjoy books that centre around multiple characters but I felt it just wasn't needed here. In saying that though Rachel certainly gave us enough of a taste that I can't wait for Josh and Ashlyn's story. Ooh and not forgetting Blake or Colby for that matter.

There are some difficult scenes and topics in this book and Rachel dealt with them in just the right tone. If you are looking for a book that offers an epic romance, heartfelt scenes but with a great story as well as action and great characters then Be My December is definitely the book to choose. I more than enjoyed this story and would heartily recommend it.

HASH(0xa4d484d4) out of 5 stars Be My December? One simple question, one not so simple story - excellent read Aug. 28 2014
By Bare Naked Words - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Eden’s life changed forever 4 years ago on December 16th.

You could say that mine changed too when I met Rachel online in July last year she had just released her debut novel Just Breathe, which had one of the best Prologues I had ever read, and it was in honour of that prologue that Just Breathe was the first review I ever posted on Bare Naked Words blog, July 9th. Rachel and I have been friends ever since, and I was honoured when she asked me to Beta read Be My December for her.

The Prologue for Be My December is very different to Just Breathe, in fact it is so heartbreakingly realistic, that I still dub Ms Brookes the prologue queen, but this time it wasn’t the beauty of the prologue that impressed me it was the utter despair and bone chilling fear it evoked in me.

We meet Eden, broken beyond repair on the inside, but surviving of sorts on the outside. She is hiding behind a façade of quiet yet fragile confidence, hoping to remain invisible to all, especially to the opposite sex.

Enter Ky Crawford, successful, confident, honey eyed, and dripping in deliciousness, he is practically beating the ladies off, actually he’s not beating them off he’s “getting his dick wet” regularly as his brother Josh so eloquently puts it. But he’s clearly also working all the hours god sends him to bury the memories from his past, but when he sees the beauty in the red jacket across a crowded room, those memories resurface. But so do feelings that he isn’t ready to deal with.

Be My December? One simple question, one not so simple story.

Ky is delicious (I think I may have mentioned that), a little intense and very protective of Eden.

Eden is vulnerable and yet strong, and together there is dynamite waiting to happen.

I love that Rachel’s female leads are sassy, funny and strong, although in Eden’s case she doesn’t know just how strong she is, and her strength is tested to the limits when her past catches up with her future and revenge is the only thing on everyone’s mind.

The dynamics of all the characters works so well, for the Breathe Series fans, you are in for a treat and you just know there is more to come.

What transpires between Ky and Eden, is slow, sweet and sexy. Ky sure has a way with words, if you know what I mean. And I defy you not to fall for him. (Tate I’m so sorry)

Thanks to Rachel for inviting me on this journey with her, a journey where I’ve cried for Eden and with Eden, swooned over Ky, but admired his sensitivity, laughed with Josh and rooted for second chances and a happy ever after all the way.

If I can tell you one thing, it’s my review really does not do this story justice, so if you do one thing today, go and 1-click this book and prepare to be completely overwhelmed with emotions.

HASH(0xa4d48894) out of 5 stars ARC Be My December Aug. 28 2014

I was graciously gifted a copy for an honest review.
This was my first Rachel Brookes novel and I must admit I was completely blown away.
When I stumbled on the meaning of "Be My December" I had tears. It touched me so deep!!
These characters were so well evolved and developed into one big loving family with the ultimate unbreakable bond.
Or is it?
Eden is a girl struggling, trying to figure out who she is after such a horrific event happened to her.
Vowing to never step foot in the city it all took place, crushed her soul, her future and dreams.
Vowing to say 'yes' to everything to avoid consequences. Until she meets Ky.
Time to pull up her big girl panties, years later Eden returns. Not a decision made by her.
Ky has his own secrets, nightmares every night for years. Doesn't feel worthy of being happy, or finding love or even redemption. That all changes when he meets Eden.
A friendship that bonds strong & quickly, opening each other up to the possibilities.
This whole process between Eden and Ky touched my heart, made it unbelievably heavy but in a good way.
Fairytales always end in heartache. Especially when not all is what it seems.
When pasts truths are revealed, secrets have a way of destroying everything worked towards rebuilding.

HASH(0xa4d48978) out of 5 stars Fall in love with Ky Crawford Aug. 28 2014

I absolutely loved this book. Eden is a girl who fears saying no, and Ky (swoon) is a guy weighed down by guilt for four years. From the moment they meet you can feel the chemistry between them, and hope that they can heal each other.
I read Be My December very quickly, it's a passionate, heartbreaking and well written story that will have you sacrificing sleep to see what happens next!
