"Most of us live life according to the story of who we think we are. Past wounds, disappointments, poor choices, and a gnawing awareness that we are not living life to its maximum potential in a state of harmony and joy are a direct result of this self-limiting myth. In this book, Eldon Taylor encourages us to activate the inner reservoir of our untapped potential and to question our prior beliefs and patterns of behavior. Creating a 'new' story can liberate us to become our most authentic selves and to celebrate the miracle and adventure of life, in a world of in!nite possibilities."-- Annamaria Hemingway, Ph.D., author of Practicing Conscious Living and Dying and Myths of the Afterlife

It is simple, too, because, while the thoughts are profound it is not written with words that demand a dictionary in your left hand while you hold the book with the right. I don't mean to imply that it's "dumbed-down" because it's anything but that. I mean that anyone with good reading skills can read the book and understand what Taylor is saying. Long after the mind has feasted on the words, however, the soul will dip into its depths over and over to ponder and digest.
The chapters address topics like The Power of Belief, Integrity, Life and Pain, Love and Cruelty, Balance, Goals and Ambition, Peace - and other critical issues that each person needs to make a personal decision about. It is not a book for sissies or for those who are afraid to look within for the tough answers to serious questions.
Each chapter ends with a reflection. If the book contained nothing but the reflections it would still be worth the price you paid and the time you spent. The reflections are, as they say, "a gift that keeps on giving" because they meander into your mind off and on throughout the day and certainly at night if you happen to be awake. It is the kind of inner work that goes with significant progress on your spiritual path or guides you along an accelerated self-improvement journey.
I recommend this book for anyone who is interested in personal and spiritual growth - and isn't that most of us? It will help you examine your beliefs in a way you may not have done before and you will find it a handy guide for self discovery at deeper and deeper levels.
This book is not an easy read, it makes you think. And that's just the point, by thinking and seeing all sides of an issue, Eldon shows us how important it is to examine our thoughts. Each chapter is relatively short but contains a lot of research and information. This isn't a typical self-help book. There are no tips for changing your beliefs, or affirmations to recite. Instead Eldon provides you with examples and opposing arguments for looking at different aspects of your life broken down into 26 chapters. The aspects are extensive and thorough. The end of each chapter contains a paragraph where you are invited to reflect on the topic and to examine your own thoughts on the subject. If you take some time to answer the questions honestly you may find that you may change your thinking. And that's the point.
The following is a direct quote from Eldon Taylor regarding I Believe:
"Many of us have learned to be effective chameleons, just so we can feel as though we fit in, but in the process we have neglected the discovery of ourselves. We have learned to avoid rejection and thereby limited what we might try. We are full of what I have called the "no-don't syndrome"--all those negatives that inform us we might fail, we're no good, we're not old enough, we're stupid or skinny or fat and so on. This too has become a part of our belief network, as have the various defense mechanisms that protect us from pain and rejection. Bottom line, we are often last to ourselves. We think in sound bytes taken from our culture and race to consume the latest whatever in a never ending need for more. In the end, it is our self-doubt that prohibits our highest realization of who we are and perhaps why we're here. The subtitle of I Believe is "When What You Believe Matters," and that about sums up the answer for creating the person you were meant to be, for what you believe--the tiniest of beliefs, always matters!"
Eldon Taylor understands the power of the mind and provides us with another tool to examine our beliefs to assist us with moving forward in our lives. If you haven't taken the time to examine your beliefs, use this book as a guide and a first step in changing your life for the better.

Sensational content! Eldon Taylor (author), is a worldwide renowned (expert) consultant within the field of psychology, hypnosis! He is an expert (world-class) coach in changing human brain belief systems ny means of his tools, or information! He taught me how to change my negative belief system(s) and/or flip that into productive, successful, and /or life-altering beliefs-actions. Eldon Taylor states: "lying to ourselves at an unconscious level is something I think of as FALSOPHRENIA," adding "this condition is pandemic today, especially in the United States and other highly developed countries" (p.146). To illustrate, "False," being "the sense that we aren't in touch with our authentic selves," plus "Phrenic," which is "the sense that this is purely an issue that arises from how we manage our minds" (p.146). Essentially, we all need to increase our awareness of our daily thought(s)! This action will increase your productivity, explode your positive information (dreams, goals, actions), when you then take action. Substantial negative belief systems are pervasive, non-productive and in many cases just false, untrue! Unlimited resources exist withing every human inhabitant's brain, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE to raise your belief system, and/or change your life to accomplish your dreams and/or goals. Mind-altering content!
Unlimited, things can happen to any human when they change their belief system(s). For example, chapter one provided numerous examples. Page 3: "Benjamin Franklin," an incredible "great thinker, man of science," was able to complete human "levitation during hypnosis." Plus, "placebos and cures," and "faith healing," can be 100% effective when the right belief system is first installed. Learned an sustantial amount of the human brain, cortex, with easy to follow information. The human belief(s) positively have a direct link to results. Eldon Taylor: "our beliefs absolutely predispose our findings in the real world" (p.109). Adding, "not only is this true for ourselves but it can be true for others as well" (p.109). Further, "studies have shown that a teacher presented with a troubled, learing impaired child and told that the child is very precocious and gifted but with some behavorial opporunities will produce a child that actually fits this description within a year" (p.109). What you think of yourself, and.or others will have a direct effect on your behavorial tendencies, resulting effort(s).
Very entertaining, insightful, fun nonfiction book to read. Some of the most time-tested quotations, useful anecdotes are included around the substantiated brain information within each chapter. My favorite quotation: "shared joy is a double joy, shared sorrow is half sorrow" (p.165). One mind-boggling story I found most interesting involved "mass hysteria" (p.174-175). How one belief system can have direct influence on a chain reaction, unaffected students without real physical symptoms. Fascinating content. Excellent nonfiction book, all pages 1-179. Each chapter provides sound information from world renowned psychology, human-brain expert, author -- Eldon Taylor. It is never too late to change your belief system and/or change your life. Eldon Taylor (author) shows the reader how to accomplish more efficient, success oriented belief systems. This ranges from chapter 1: the power of belief: who am I (p.1-17) to my favorite chapter 12: goals and ambitions "purpose is to point out the long-range opportunities that exist in all goals and ambitions" (p.96)! Flowed well until the conclusion in chapter 26: I believe in you. Highly recommended reading for anyone on planet Earth! Learned an incredible amount of useful tools, time-tested scientific information in regard to transforming my negative belief system(s) -into more productive, positive belief(s), and/or action(s). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
