I've bought many cheap acrylic cases before on Ebay, only to have them fall apart after a year or less with regular use. Finally I decided to splurge on a real case. At first I was also skeptical of Belkin, but I figured if it didn't perform I could always return it. The first thing I noticed was how much thicker the plastic is and how the tolerances are much tighter than the cheap cases I've bought before. With my last case, my Zune would rattle inside very subtlety, and the two halves of the case would slightly slide against each other. With this Belkin case, my Zune fits inside absolutely perfectly and doesn't move one micron, and the thick case snaps together with a reassuring snap. I drop my Zune frequently at the gym, and whereas my previous cheapo case would just pop open, the Belkin still holds together. A nice touch is that the single 'cut-out' area where the front controls are, so you can slide your fingers from the control pad to the buttons and back again in continuous motions. With many other cases out there, the control pad and the buttons are physically separated by a ridge of plastic, which is very irritating when trying to use the controls. With my previous case, the ridge was so thick that I was forced to press the buttons with my fingernails- again, very irritating. Kudos to Belkin for actually considering this important ergonomic issue. The only complaint is that the metal 'top' completely obscures the color of your Zune and makes it look like you're carrying around a block of steel. Also, despite the Amazon product description, this case does NOT come with a belt clip. Only the Remix case for the Zune 80/120 includes that feature. All in all very happy with this product.

HASH(0xa353de10) out of 5 stars The Belkin Acrylic Case for Zune 4GB and 8GB - Good Case With A Metal Face May 19 2008
By Mark - Published on
Verified Purchase
The Belkin Acrylic Case for Zune 4 GB, 8 GB (Clear) is a good value for a newer player that doesn't have too many affordable quality cases available. While the product description says clear, it's not totally clear and has a brushed metal face on the front piece. The product picture kind of shows the metal front. Still, for those who have colored Zunes and want to show off those colors, the Griffin iClear Case for ZUNE 4G/8G is a similar case that doesn't have the metal plate.

The front piece actually seperates from the back by pulling on a tab on the top. Once you've got your player in the case, you just snap the front of the case back over it. This does create some contact spots on the screen, so I just pushed my player as far into the back as possible to minimize them. When the player is turned on they are less visible in any case. If this case came with a screen protector, I''m pretty sure those contact spots wouldn't show up.

The case does have slots open for all your controls and ports. It would have been nice to have some slots or an extra place to attach a lanyard or a band to the case, but you can still use the attachment point on the player itself.

My main gripe is that it seems like almost all the Zune cases are super expensive. Event though this one is not cheap, this is still on the more affordable side for a case for the Zune v2.0 flash player.

+ Though expensive, still one of the more affordable Zune cases
+ Good basic design leaves all your buttons and jacks accessible
+ Brushed metal front adds some style and durability
+ Only adds minimal thickness and size to your player

- The case doesn't come with a screen protector
- The acrylic front does create some contact spots with the screen
- In my opinion, the cost of these cases are all excessive
- No built in slots or area to attach a band or lanyard, but you can still use the lanyard slot on the player case
- Not completely clear for those who want to show off their color Zune

As long as you like the brushed metal face, this is a nice case. And when the other cases start to come down in price, at least you can have this one as an extra.

HASH(0xa353f15c) out of 5 stars Fairly good purchase. May 27 2008

My complaint with this product is there is no clip attached. You need to hold it or put it in your pocket. Apparently only the case for the Zune 80G has the belt clip. Otherwise the case is well made, sturdy and fits the Zune 8G well. If you don't care about the belt clip feature, you will probably feel it is worth a 5 star rating.

HASH(0xa353f240) out of 5 stars Best case for Flash Zunes. March 21 2009
By Woo Kim - Published on
I bought this for a friend because she literally drops almost everything she owns and I was worried when I gave her a Zune 8 GB Digital Media Player (Pink) that it would get dinged up so I bought her this case. I have never had any bad experiences with Belkin Cases and this was no different. She really enjoyed the Zune and the case.

Pretty solid case. Has a great look to it, especially the silver finish in the front. Most importantly it is very effective.

HASH(0xa353f924) out of 5 stars THIS CASE WILL OVERHEAT YOUR ZUNE Nov. 19 2011
By ciachef - Published on

After putting the case on my Zune and charging the battery my Zune only held a charge for about 30 minutes. The plastic case holds the heat from the charging process and not allowing it to escape from the back of the Zune causing the Zune to overheat and possibly damage the inner electronics of the Zune. I would not reccomend this product! BUYER BEWARE.
