I actually passed over the DVD series the first few times I saw it, confused by the "Fusion" titles. Not until I had actually been to a workshop and talked to her about the content did I purchase the lot, and have been overall very happy with it. Each DVD teaches some of the isolations and drills essential for good bellydance technique, along with a thorough warmup and cooldown. Also, each DVD focuses on whichever element is implied in the title, ie Pilates, Yoga etc. Admittedly, now that I've been through each one, I tend to skip to whatever area I want to work on, such as squats (argh!) or belly rolls.
Suhaila is the undisputed queen of contemporary bellydance, and her technique forms the basis for much of what the Bellydance Superstars does, whether it's Raks Sharqi or Tribal Fusion (eg Rachel Brice, Sharon Kihara ...) In addition the FCBD Tribal Bellydance Style has its basis in the Salimpour teaching legacy (Suhaila's mom, Jamila). Mastering the basics according to Suhaila's method can really help one's progress in the dance.

The DVDs seem to be marketed more as a "bellydance version of this or that exercise," and that is not the case.
Suhaila breaks down for the viewer each muscle group that she utilizes to layer her moves and uses a different exercise technique to isolate and strengthen that muscle or group of muscles.
There is a lot of repetition. There is even more in her classes.
Some directions were not detailed enough for me before the workshop, but the DVDs are the perfect amount of direction after taking a workshop with Suhaila.
While these exercises are great for general fitness, they are really geared toward learning muscle isolation for the Suhaila Salimpour technique for bellydance.
The workouts are akin to doing drills in a ballet class or a martial arts class, which is the approach that Suhaila takes to Bellydance.
Note: as other reviews mention, there is no Pilates, and there is no dancing. The misleading name accounts for the missing star.
That said, in my ongoing quest for a waist and a butt, this is my main strength workout. The gluteal exercises are unlike any I've seen elsewhere. (If you get fed up or just want to have a laugh, watch the seated gluteal isolations speeded up to 2x or 4x!) The abdominal undulations are also a different way to work those muscles (regular crunches also included). I find it quite challenging even after several months, 2-3 times a week, BUT it's an effective workout, and is making a noticeable difference!
There are good stretching segments throughout, a real plus.
If you are looking for belly dance workouts or instruction, there are lots available, with choreographed dances broken down in to steps (try Jillina, Neon, Rania, Nadia). And there are plenty of Pilates workouts, but I haven't found one which truly combines the two.
I do find Suhaila delightful, and easy to follow.
It is natural for your muscles to be stronger for some movements. That is why she has you reverse the direction for the different moves, to vary the motions so the muscles get stronger for all movements. Suhaila and her cast are obviously all in great shape and experienced, but if you watch them carefully, you'll see they aren't all doing it the same, and they don't always do the moves perfectly. Work at your own pace, be patient with yourself, and this routine should work great for you.
