Product Description

Jesse and Sarah’s journey continues in Beneath the Willow, the sequel to the heartfelt novel, Across the Creek.
For Jesse Malone, an architect in Chicago, life has been anything but easy. After losing the love of his life six years earlier, he is determined not to let love slip through his grasp once again.
Sarah Ramsey, a business owner in the Windy City, is struggling to keep everything together through a difficult divorce. Her husband, a once brilliant attorney, is about to lose his career along with his marriage and is set on making Sarah’s life just as miserable as his.
When Jesse and his fiancée, Kate, walk into a local floral shop to pick out the flowers for their upcoming wedding, Jesse runs into the only other woman he has ever loved, Sarah. Their brief encounter sets off a series of catastrophic events as Sarah reveals a secret that will test the foundations of their lives, leaving them with one certainty…life will never be the same for either of them.

I spent so much time enjoying this book. It was really worth the money. Although I spent some time crying at new revelations and yelling at the characters, I loved every minute of it. This book was awesome. It was delightfully complex and layered. I love seeing two broken people come together and make things work. Bravo!

It was a little too predictable but enjoyed it nonetheless.

HASH(0xa8544498) out of 5 stars Loved this book!! Oct. 4 2012

After reading Across the Creek, I couldn't wait to pick up where we were left with Sarah and Jesse. One of the characters you wanted to hate, you just couldn't. I laughed and even teared up. It's one of those books you wished would go on and on. I would definitely read another book from Jeremy Asher.

HASH(0xa854475c) out of 5 stars Well done Oct. 14 2012

I was unsure about reading a romance type novel, but my wife told me that I would enjoy this, and she was right. The male perspective needs to be written more often. I will definitely read more books by this author. He does a nice job of creating a story that everyone can relate to.

HASH(0xa8544720) out of 5 stars A Beautiful Conclusion to a Beautiful Story Dec 1 2012
By Sheiglagh - Published on Amazon.com

After reading Across the Creek (Jesse & Sarah), I immediately downloaded Beneath the Willow (Jesse & Sarah) because a love like what Jesse and Sarah have just could not die. And I was right. The conclusion of their story (though again this is a stand alone book and you can enjoy it as it is) is as heartwrenching as the first, though this time, there is a feeling of finding love and forgiveness at the same time.

***SPOILERS HERE***
As what you have already surmised, I like both books very much. Author Jeremy Asher fleshed out all characters to be three-dimensional, including the supporting ones, and not just Jesse and Sarah.

Still, what really made this book very special to me is that there are actually four love stories in here and though Jesse and Sarah's story dominates, it is not the greatest.

Kate's love for Jesse is the unselfish love that Guy de Maupassant had immortalized. And Kate giving Jesse his freedome to be with Sarah is one of the most beautiful scenes in the book.

Kevin, Sarah's ex-husband had been painted as the bad guy. Yet, if you read between the lines, he truly loved Sarah, more than Sarah deserved actually. And in both times that he could actually pull trigger he could not because deep inside he really is a nice guy. If there was a character that I would have loved to see and hear more about is Kevin. Somehow, in both books, he was always in the backburner.

And though we love the hero and the heroine, Sarah is actually weak and quite frankly, can be a B*****. Instead of complaining about Kevin working all the time, she should have been supportive of him. She knows that Emma is not Kevin's, and of course, Kevin did not know. That alone should have given Sarah incentive to be supportive of Kevin's career. Yes, Kevin hitting her is bad and it was right for her to leave him when that happened. But, Kevin is not a violent man as the story suggested in the end. Kevin and Sarah could have gone to couple counselling and perhaps their marriage would have been better.

Surprisingly, the strongest person in this menagerie is Robbie. Again, he is a supporting character yet his light shone through from beginning to end.

After listing all that, I would like to say that I don't really see these two books as romance books. Aside from the obvious that it's actually about two lovers, the presentation and the prose it was written in is more for literary fiction. And I like it that the characters are very real. They have strengths and weaknesses.

This book is PG 15 due to situational drama. There are no sex scenes in this book

HASH(0xa8544a14) out of 5 stars I didn't read the first one, maybe that's my problem April 9 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I thought the characters were well written. The book was well paced- never boring, but j kept wondering when it was going to get really good. I think I missed ou by not reading the first book. While the history of the charters is explAined well, I didn't have an emotional connection to their past and , therefore, didnt really care what happened to them. My suggestion- make sure you read the series in order. This doesn't work well as a stand-alone novel.

HASH(0xa8544f0c) out of 5 stars Wasnt as good as the first one April 6 2013

I read this book as this was the sequel to the first one I read. This however was a bit of a disappointment as we knew the characters would get together but the story behind it took a while.
