Product Description

From the Back Cover

Praise for Down Goes Brown

"With his pointed playfulness, eye for the absurd, and smart, silly layers of punchlines and punditry, Down Goes Brown is like a puck-loving version of The Daily Show."
— Katie Baker, Grantland

"Down Goes Brown is King Lear's fool; you think he's there for comedy, but he's really the smartest guy in the play."
— Jeff Marek, Sportsnet

"Down Goes Brown makes me proud as a hockey fan and angry as a comedy writer, because he's so damn clever. Masters mockery like Datsyuk dangles."
— Greg Wyshynski, Puck Daddy

"Canadians may be the greatest hockey fans on earth, but we generally lack much??levity when it comes to the national passion. So thank goodness for Sean McIndoe and Down Goes Brown."
— Dave Naylor, TSN

Down Goes Brown is a blog dedicated to making fun of the NHL. This book is dedicated to collecting the best from the blog, like "A Transcript of Every Hockey Game Ever Broadcast" and "The NHL's Top Secret Flowchart For Handing Out Suspensions", and adding a bunch of new stuff that you won't find anywhere else, like "The NHL's Hall of Fame Application Form" and a "Brief History of Wayne Gretzky". Our research shows that the more copies you buy, the funnier it gets, so do yourself a favor and pick up several.

About the Author

Sean McIndoe is the funniest writer in hockey. A pioneering blogger in the world of hockey humor, he grew Down Goes Brown from nothing in 2008 to the world's biggest and best hockey humor blog. Today, Down Goes Brown is one of the most popular hockey blogs in the world. Sean is also published twice weekly by the National Post, both in print and online. He posts regularly on Grantland (one of North America's most-read sports websites), and he is regularly quoted by, or a guest on, sports radio, television, and your favorite blog or podcast.

By the time I was on page 6 I had already laughed out loud on 4 separate occasions. Honestly this book is worth the purchase price if you only ever read "A Look Back at Game Seven of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final (which, due to a scheduling error, had to be published twelve hours early)" which is one of the best piece of satirical writing I've ever read. Seems like a great gift for that hockey lover in your life.

Honestly, the cost of the book is worth it for Chapter 22 alone which gives us insight into the CBA negotiations in the usual DGB fashion. You will laugh, you will cry and then you will realize he is right and just sigh.

Much to my wife's chagrin, I have been laughing out loud to this book. A lot. You see, I usually read DGB at work but now I can read it anywhere from the convenience of my own home.

Zip. Bang. Pow.

These are just some of the words that come to mind. Wait, I'm writing a review for a book? Who am I talking to? Well, this is embarrassing. I'll give it a shot and here goes nothing.

DOWN GOES BROWN IS THE (<-Super CAPS) FOREMOST AUTHORITY IN HOCKEY-RELATED HUMOUR ON THE PLANET AND SECOND-MOST IN THE GALAXY (TZOGAR THE MALEVOLENT IS STILL NUMBER ONE). BUY THIS BOOK, BUY TWO, BUY ELEVENTY!

Oh, and eat healthy!

IF you've ever visited DGB's site, you know how funny he can be. If you haven't, what are you waiting for? DGB takes it to the next level with this collection. The new content had me putting down the book because I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. If you like to laugh, get this book. If you don't like to laugh, my sincere apologies. I'm sure your Canucks will do better next year.

If you're in mourning over the loss of yet another hockey season, read this book. Sean McIndoe is very smart and very funny, and no one makes fun of the NHL better than he. You can't spend the rest of this lost cause of a season watching the first 'Slap Shot', so buy this book, put on some tunes, and be prepared to laugh at the sport we all love.

I haven't read this book yet because I usually judge books by the cover and the cover of this book is kinda dull. That said, I follow DGB on twitter and he's definitely more interesting then the book would portray. For this reason I give the book 5-stars and will probably give it a read despite the crappy cover.
