A very sweet and beautiful story. It's short but perfect just the way it is. This is the first thing I have ever read from this author and I am eager to read all the other thing she's written. This is for sure a must read!

HASH(0xa4e597b0) out of 5 stars Good read Jan. 15 2015
By Jodie's W.I.N.E. List - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
In the beginning, I had a little trouble getting into the story. I felt like I was missing something and in a way I was. It started off with Alexander going to Taylor's beauty salon for some reason. It then goes into how surprised Alexander is by his attraction to Taylor and how bothered he is by it. That's the part that confused me. I was missing why he was there in the first place. It was obvious there was more than an haircut on his mind, but I had no clue why.

However, it was that confusion that kept me reading. Then, once I figured it out, I needed to keep reading to find out how everything was going to turn out, because I knew it couldn't end well for Taylor. She was going to be heartbroken.

There was just something about Taylor. I loved Taylor's genuine down to earth personality. She added a realistic light-heartedness to their interactions that the ultra serious Alexander needed. I didn't want to see her destroyed like I just knew Alexander's truth was going to do.

HASH(0xa4e59828) out of 5 stars MUST READ! Jan. 12 2015
By Je'nae Aguilar - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Best Laid Plans of Boys and Men is written by Anna Conley. The book starts off with Alexander going in to a new hair salon. The lady cutting his hair is Taylor, and she owns the salon. Alex doesn’t know that the young twenty-three year old is the owner, but he does know that he is enjoying her having her hands all over his hair. There is something about Taylor that draws Alexander to her. It isn’t one-sided, Taylor feels it too, but Alexander is a bit older than Taylor at the age of forty-one. While cutting Alexander’s hair she happens to mention that she is going out for lady’s night later with her friends, and she also happens to mention where. So while she is at the club thinking about him, guess who happens to show up? That’s right hottie Alexander! They have a drink, and dance for a while, and they decide to leave and go have something to eat. While eating Alexander finds out that Taylor is the one that owns the salon, which wouldn’t be a big deal if he wasn’t the lawyer that was suing that particular salon. Alexander tried to distance himself from Taylor, but he can’t there is just something about her that keeps him from walking away. And Taylor feels the same way, yes Alexander is older than the boys she are so use to, but maybe it’s time for her to be with a real man. But the question remains what will happen when Taylor finds out that Alexander is the lawyer that has been retained by the person suing her? What is Alexander willing to do to keep Taylor in his life?
I 100% LOVED this story! Alexander will now and forever be one of my number one book boyfriends of all time! There is just something about the way his character is written that draws you in and makes it so you just can’t get enough of him. This story is one of my all-time favorites. I would have to say that my only complaint, if you can even call it that, is I wish the story was longer! I was so sad when it was over. I may not have read anything by this author before, but I can guarantee that I will be doing so in the future. Anna Conley is defiantly an author that you need to checkout, and this story is well worth the read. I would highly, highly recommend this book to anyone who is look for a romance!

HASH(0xa4e59c60) out of 5 stars Author is a brilliant storyteller. Jan. 11 2015
By T London - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I love how this author brings intense stories that keep me interested and invested yet is able to wrap the plot up in her unique charm and tenderness. Best Laid Plans of Boys and Men is a perfect example of her talent in storytelling.
Anne Conley introduces us to Taylor and Alexander. Both characters have losses in life. For Taylor her loss forced her to take the money and create a salon that would leave a legacy and support her and her brother for years to come. She threw herself into her shop and career, leaving little time for dating and social gatherings but she did create a small extended family among her stylists that she employs. Jordan, her brother is highly protective but not to the point that his actions would do anything to prevent Taylor from being happy and finding her Mr. Right.
In walks Alexander one day, claiming to need a haircut, yet his goal is to obtain information on Taylor for a job he is hired to do. Doing what he was trained and hired to do used to mean something to him until he encounter a loss in life that forever damaged his heart. His views of what he was hired to do was clouded by his pain and feeling that nothing worthwhile was left to fight for. When he looked in Taylor’s eyes he forgot his job and began to discover those old feelings he thought he had buried long ago resurface, demanding his attention.
As the story goes on, we see him struggle with the dilemma of telling Taylor the truth of who he really is and risk losing her, or try to find a way out of this situation and she would never know. Taylor had such a pure heart, the fact that she was on the edge of losing everything weighed her down and she reached out to Alexander for support and help, not knowing he was the person who could be her downfall. Alexander’s true identity was exposed and Taylor was left shattered, beating herself up for once again trusting the wrong man, or did she? He could be just what she needed to not only save what she holds dear, but to give her a happy ever after.
I found this to be a quick and smooth read with enough drama and suspense to keep me invested but not overwhelmed. The characters were developed so well it would be impossible for me not to care and love them. The author has such a brilliant way of telling her stories that not only force you to feel, she takes your hand and walks you through it as if you were living the plot. I could feel my emotions rise and fall as events occurred and I was left with a slight book hangover after the final page was turned. I would highly recommend this book and realize the message that not everything can be judged by the outward appearance. Sometimes the truth isn’t easy to speak, but so worth the effort to fight for when love is on the line.

HASH(0xa51fb018) out of 5 stars Short, fun, and sexy March 3 2015

A short, fun, and sexy little stand-alone novella! The Best Laid Plans of Boys and Men starts off with one of my favorite ASMR Triggers (It’s a thing, google it!). Not as much sex as I was actually expecting but plenty of flirty sexual tension.

There’s a pretty obvious problem that you can see hurtling towards the characters that had me cringing because it’s usually handled really poorly but it was handled in a fashion that was just right.

Another great read!

HASH(0xa51fb120) out of 5 stars A Great Love Story April 28 2015

This was a great short story, about a lawyer Alexander and a hair salon owner Taylor. Alex drops by the hair salon to help him with a case he has just been given. Taylor treats him to the best salon experience of his life. "Words could not describe the feelings of her hands on his head, massaging his scalp, running through his hair, lathering it up....he'd completely forgotten why he'd come her in the first place, only that he never wanted to leave."

Alexander waged a war with himself over getting involved with Taylor or not. The physical pull between the two was staggering, he hadn't even felt it with his wife who had died many years before. Taylor's feeling were hurt as Alexander tried to figure out how to handle the relationship and the court case and if he should come clean about it with her or not.

Excellent writing with great flow, this story moved along quickly and I read this in one sitting. I will definitely look for more from this author.
