This DVD is priced to own, featuring the funniest and most inspired episodes from the timelessly hysterical hit TV show, MR. BEAN!
The biggest British comedy export since Benny Hill, the classic series starring Rowan Atkinson has won an International Emmy Award, a Cable Ace Award, the Golden Rose of Montreaux - and a global cult following. The madcap brilliance of the awkward man-child puts Bean right on par with greats such as Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin. Atkinson's physical humor and antics transcend linguistic frontiers in this irresistible compliation. This special collection features the funniest, most gut-busting moments in Bean history.
For the newcomer or die-hard fan, this greatest-hits collection includes snippets from several Bean masterpieces. Among the 10 or so generous clips are Bean's extraordinary difficulties getting out of a parking garage without his pass, his "twit dance" alongside a street musician (okay, a musician at a tube stop), his problems keeping awake at church, and his greatest, uh, triumph in preparing to meet the queen with his fly open. Essential comedy and exceptionally funny. --Tom Keogh --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The video mostly relies heavily on some clips from old Mr. Bean episodes through flashbacks that the main character experiences when rummaging and finding things in the attic of his flat with Teddy one rainy day. Examples: Mr. Bean going to the dentist, Mr. Bean stuffing a turkey on Christmas day and losing his watch inside of it, Mr. Bean sleeping like a log at church, etc.
I still felt The Best Bits of Mr. Bean was entertaining and provided a lot of memorable moments about Mr. Bean's hilarious antics! We get a total of 10 Mr. Bean shorts shown here which is pretty decent!
Unfortunately, The Best Bits of Mr. Bean is just anther one of those videos you can only watch once in a while. It's still impossible to really get into and offers little to any fan of Mr. Bean or Rowan Atkinson except a trip down memory lane. This may very well be watched only on a rainy day when you have nothing else to do indoors.
Other media you may want to check out which Rowan Atkinson has appeared in is the British sitcom The Thin Blue Line and the 2003 movie Johnny English!
Mr. Bean is indeed an instant classic, and even if you think you hate British comedy, this will probably win you over anyway.
However, beware that you are NOT purchasing 11 full "episodes". You are purchasing a single flashback episode that flashes back to 11 short selections from Bean episodes.
If you dont believe me, note that the total running time is 77 minutes. Subtract the movie trailers, the credits, the intro, and what you have is about an hour of footage, about half of which is the filler between flashbacks. Now, it is quite hysterical filler about Mr Bean rummaging through his attic and playing with his teddy, but it's still filler, and it's still a flashback episode. If you hate flashback episodes then dont bother.
To paint by numbers, the episode "Mr Bean Helps a Street Performer" is about 1 minute and 5 seconds long. Most of the episodes are around 2-5 minutes long. Now, multiply that by 11 episodes, and you have about 40 minutes or less of old Mr Bean highlights for the price of a full DVD. If you ask me, you're money is better spent on Monty Python episodes, or for that matter, the Rowan Atkinson Live tape!
Long story short, the DVD is great. I laughed the entire time, but it left me dissatisfied and wanting more. Though there was a time restraint on this DVD, I wanted it to go on and on. That's the ONLY reason I don't give "Best Bits" a perfect 5-star rating. Great, hilarious, mind-boggling entertainment for anyone.
