HASH(0xa6919ac8) out of 5 stars Great guide for first time Disney visitor Nov. 6 2011
By Kenpoguy - Published on
Format: Paperback
We took this book on our recent first trip to Disney, it was great! This book is especially helpful for those who are new to the parks and and are overwhelmed about what to do and see. There is plenty of helpful tips on the best times for attractions and shows. Each park and area of Disney is covered so you dont have to buy a seperate book. This one has it all from magic kingdom to downtown disney to typhoon lagooon, and if you dont know the difference this book will explain it all.
At each park the book gives certain attractions its "birnbaum best" grade-these are must sees. We found them to be very accurate the attractions they reccomended were indeed the things we would have regretted missing.
I initially picked this book because unlike other disney guide books it has plenty of pictures. If you are new to Disney then you will know how this is helpful. Information about disney resorts and places to eat at the park were also inlcuded.
At each park description you are given a color map. This is pretty much the same map that you get at each park when you are at disney. We referred to this each night as made our plan of attack for the next day.
I give it five stars because it gives you everuthing you need for your Disney trip. It is colorful with lots of pictures and reads like a magazine instead of a boring tour book from AAA. Of course once you go to Disney and experience each park you probably wont need it again. But for the price it will save you the headaches of figuring out what to do and where to go first.
Excellent resource.

HASH(0xa68dcfd8) out of 5 stars Birnbaum's great reference guide Jan. 15 2012

I have been using Birnbaum's Walt Disney Guides as a reference for over 20 years. It is one of the top books in my Disney Reference library. As a Disney Travel Specialist for an agency, I have assembled all material which I find helpful in assisting clients to plan their vacation. I find these guides so important that I have kept them since 1992. I even pack mine when I travel to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

HASH(0xa64327f8) out of 5 stars Not worth the money. Nov. 5 2011

For a dollar more "The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2012 (Unofficial Guides) " offers vastly more believable information.

This Birnbaum Guide on Walt Disney World reads like an advertising brochure. Just about everything is wonderful, though there is the occasional "tip" about this or that, such as some children being scared by a presentation or ride. But none of the descriptions feel like they were written by someone who had actually visited the attraction. Everything has the feeling of being sourced from other material. In short, the book lacks a personal feel: it is an advertising brochure, not a trustworthy guide.

There are many other guides to Walt Disney World, many written by people who have made a career of becoming experts on the parks. This guide is not in that category. Compared to "The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2012 (Unofficial Guides) ", which I ordered at the same time, the Birnbaum Guide is useless.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! Not only is it about Disney World but if your going to be a first time visiter it will be very helpful in planning your vacation. If you are planning a trip to Disney World I would highly recommend a purchase of this book. You'll be able to compare the different resorts (on and off property) plus see information for everything you will want to do while your there.
