Product Description

Praise for the first edition:
"This compact paperback has quickly become the most valued and useful resource in my blood banking and immunohematology library....the books primary usefulness is as a reference resource. However, it is highly readable and skimming its' tables and figures will be an enjoyable, painless way to update your information about blood group antigens. Once you start reading this unique compilation of facts and information about blood group antigens, you will not be able to stop until you read the last page."

"A welcome reprieve to those of us who do not have a comprehensive reprint collection, and need to locate data rapidly with the minimum of fuss...[the authors] have met the challenge and the end result is a book that should jostle for space on the bookshelf of everyone with even a casual interest in red blood cells and blood group antigens."

Format: Paperback
Excellent, practical and easy to read. Blood group antigens have been a confusing topic and few people can present it as well as Dr. Reid.
The book is well organized, gives you all the important facts and the clinical significance of each antigen. Truely a superb gathering of very practical facts. I strongly recommend it to clinicians, residents and medical students. This book has the facts you need for making decisions .

This book is a must-have for any CLS specializing in Immunohematology red blood cell serological problem solving. It is well organized by blood group and packed with information about each antigen within each blood group. It also has a chapter filled with charts of different antigen characteristics. It is a great addition to any Transfusion Medicine library, providing a one book location for finding all the facts quickly.
HASH(0xa4b81108) out of 5 stars a must-have book for blood bankers. July 27 2013

Format: Paperback
This book is well-known as a must-have book for Blood bank reference laboratories. In addition, this is also a must-have book for blood bank physicians, managers and supervisors, in my opinion. It provides most concise and thorough details for serology, detection methods, clinical significance and molecular basis of all the RBC blood group antigens and antibodies. It helps us to make decisions when we encounter complicated and/or difficult antibody issues. The book is user-friendly, neatly organized and immediately helpful for blood banker's practice. This is the most useful and cost-effective reference book for blood bankers, in my opinion. I love the book so much and have recommended it to others.

I consider this book a "must-have" for anyone involved in Transfusion Medicine/Immunohematology.

The book is very thorough in the description of blood group antigens and their molecular basis. For some, the information provided may be too detailed, but it's there as a resource for those instances when you're confronted with some "obscure" blood group, or variant thereof.
