From Publishers Weekly

Flower metaphors run amok in this first installment of Roberts's newest trilogy, which focuses on a quaint nursery called In the Garden and the haunted estate neighboring it. The book starts out at a plodding pace, with the sudden death of Stella Rothchild's beloved husband and her subsequent move, with her two young boys, from Michigan to the outskirts of Memphis. Fortunately, the pace picks up after Stella plants her roots at Harper estate and secures a job managing In the Garden, which is owned by Roz Harper, the same blunt, self-assured woman who presides over the estate. Though strictly regimented Stella forms a fast friendship with Roz, she clashes with Logan Kitridge, the nursery's sexy landscape designer. Logan is the antithesis of Stella—brash and impulsive, he thrives on chaos—but their enmity inevitably gives way to love. The scenes between them crackle with wit, charm and sexual tension, and are rivaled only by the warm relationships that develop among Stella, Roz and Hayley, a distant relative of Roz's who comes to the estate seeking a fresh start. Less effective is a subplot involving a ghost who doesn't seem to approve of Stella's relationship with Logan. This thread provides a few spooky moments, but it would have been more effective without the prologue's clichéd setup. While this book isn't vintage Roberts, it's a promising start to a new series.

From Booklist

Stella Rothchild loves everything about her new job as manager of In the Garden nursery. She appreciates her new, no-nonsense boss, "Roz" Harper, and she doesn't even mind living with Roz at Harper House, despite the fact that the ghost of the "Harper Bride" reportedly haunts the historic mansion. When a young and pregnant Hayley Phillips, a distant relative of Roz's, shows up at Harper House, she becomes a valued friend. The only thing Stella doesn't like about her situation is the ruggedly sexy yet completely annoying landscaper, Logan. Despite Stella's best efforts to develop a professional working relationship with him, he seems to have little time and no patience for her efforts to reorganize the nursery. Then Logan completely disrupts Stella's careful plans for her future by asking her out. Roberts, the queen of romance, launches a new trilogy with a captivating tale in which her considerable talents at creating richly compelling characters and witty, spellbinding stories come into full bloom in a paranormal-tinged romance. I am a huge fan of all things Nora Roberts. She does the romance without it being a cheesy Harlequin. The supernatural elements are so well done that they aren't overdone. I really enjoyed this trilogy. Before I purchased it, I've taken it out of the library 3 or 4 times so I highly reccommend it.

As always, Nora Roberts has delivered an adventure with love and just enough lust mixed in......In The Garden was an absolute delight to read and heartbreaking to finish because I had to return to the "real" world.

Obviously one of Nora's passions is gardening and reading this Trilogy, I find myself now exploring this new world of flowers. This series is an interesting mix of Ghosts, Romance and the Ups and Downs of Business. The men characters are all male and appeal to my tastes. Thoroughly enjoying.

i was so excited to discover this book, *blue dahlia* on amazon.ca. it is actually book one from nora robert's *in the garden trilogy.* i had just read books 2 and 3, #2: black rose and #3: red lily and ordered *blue dahlia.* i was so sad to see this series end. absolutely fantastic!!! thoroughly enjoyed it, even though i read them backwards, from #3-#1. i miss the characters already! now i have ordered more books by nora roberts through amazon.ca, to work on completing other partial series i had found in a local second-hand store. it is great fun and nice to know i can find most anything i want from my current fave author. books come quickly and in great shape. yayyyyyy amazon.ca and nora roberts!!!

I am a huge fan of Nora Roberts therefore as soon as one of her books comes out I rush to get it. This one I must admit was very disappointing. When I first started reading it I was pretty tired and I thought it was the reason why I couldn't get into it. When I picked it up again I found that I still couldn't get into it,The story just didn't do it for me. I didn't feel any chemistry between Logan and Stella. They were arguing all the time and it seemed to me that Nora was trying to match two people that weren't meant for each other. I wasn't into all the talk about flowers either. If there would have been a little less flower talk and little more about Logan and Stella then maybe I would have enjoyed it more.
On the other hand I know that other people have enjoyed this book so if you are a big fan of Nora's go out and buy it but for others who have never read Nora Roberts I suggest you start with another trilogy like the Chesapeak trilogy, the Three Sisters trilogy or the irish trilogy.

I'm not sure what was going on in Nora's head to publish this book, but I can't help wondering if someone else wrote it and stole her identity! Her writing is usually so much better than this. I wish I could say something really positive about the story but it's like the clever Nora has been blinded (perhaps by rose colored glasses). I thought I would go crazy if she made one more flower reference. The three stars I give her are purely for my absolute love of her talent and my hope that her next book will be back to the standards we all expect from her. In the meantime, if you want great romance, drama, or erotica, try "Bedtime Stories for Women" by Nancy Madore, or "To Die for" by linda Howard.
