I read that this was one of the top-rated mics in the market. I was so happy and excited to see this mic on special and decided to buy 2.

The Blue Snowball ICE came within a day. I opened the box and it's so pretty. It was very easy to install. Basically, it was plug-and-play. It came with a stand and it looked so professional. There is no on or off button. There is no mute button. There was no volume button. It's as basic as you can get.

I asked my friends to come on to play a game with my new mic and everyone said it was horrible sounding. They said I sounded distant and the sound quality was bad. Some said I sound like I was in a cave. I adjusted with different angles. Downloaded the software that was in the instruction booklet. I watched videos and no matter what I did, the sound was just horrible. The software did nothing. I was so disappointed. My friend's $30 mic (tax included!) outperformed this Blue Snowball ICE which cost double.

Needless to say, I returned both of these mics.

I have been struggling trying to find a mic that works for ages! I do a lot of video conference meetings and I have had all sorts of sound problems. This is by far the clearest mic I have ever used and I kinda like that it looks like an alien space ship (ok let's be honest, that's the best part!).

There are annoying things though...

The red light on the top of the alien is ALWAYS ON! IT never goes out... What's the point of it being on? I know it's plugged in, it's not like I unplug things.

Why isn't there a switch to turn it (the light and the mic!) off? In these days of security concerns and flaps that go over cameras, here I have a mic that is taunting me with a red light saying "I am always listening! Now Putin knows what you are watching on TV!"

Anyway yes... It lost half a star for not having a switch (which would switch the light off, so I can't knock half off for each, in fairness).

If you are looking for a mic you should probably still get this one, just be aware that the aliens and the Russians are always watching with this one.

It arrived like it went through a beating from mom's slipper, dirty and about to fall apart. I was lucky to find the contents inside to be unharmed, though I noticed the instructions guide was missing?? I ordered for brand new, not a returned, but I don't know if that's the case for this one.

Pretty upset to receive it like this, but at least the mic works (so far) and sounds very clear!

I write this review only to help others. This microphone did not work for me at all. I have a Windows 11. It doesn't have its own driver, so anytime you want to connect your microphone on whatever app you're using, you have to change the settings and connect to this device. However, anytime I ever did that (UBS, zoom, blackboard for school), no one noticed any difference in my sound from my laptop microphone. It was as if nothing changed. I am unconvinced.

I order on Wednesday and I received the package on Friday (1 day early) so great delivery service again.

So to the mic. It's the Ice version so doesn't have the selectable polar patterns, and only has the cardioid pattern which is fine for my needs. Just remember to double check which version your are ordering as it's easy to make the mistake.

The mic sounds with a really nice crisp tone and is great for my purpose of streaming on twitch and making youtubbe videos. It's very easy to connect to your pc or mac and it's really easy to fit on a mic stand like I have in my pic. Doesn't pic up much background noise either, you may see YouTube vids where people say you need to be close to the mic it's self to get a good level, in my set up I'm about 1 and half feet away and it picks up my voice with ease and I can be sat very comfitabley in my chair and game and not worry about it.

I streamed for about 90 mins last night and played back the stream and I'm very impressed with the audio quality it just makes the stream sound more professional.

My wife (who is a sound engineer) was sceptical at me using a USB mic as she says I should use an interface and an XLR mic. But I did a quick sound test as soon as I got home and called her in to listen. And she was pleasantly surprised and thought the quality of the audio is very good.

So if you are looking for a good USB mic, for streaming YouTube or just to improve your Skype audio, then go and order this mic, it's great and most defiantly worth it.

I LOVE this microphone. And even though I already loved it, it got 200% better when I got a boom arm that clamps the desk and puts the Snowball mic next to my face. Got a pop filter too. Now I can record super clear sound... it even sounds pretty good with my laptop fan running and AC running the background (I remove background noise with Audacity). Also... in the video recording I did I have a major cold. Sorry. Well this was super disappointing. I bought this as it came highly recommended for someone who is just starting to record videos and didn't want to invest too heavily. I even bought the extra pieces such as a mic stand and pop filter. Set everything up and it looked good!

I started to test immediately, and well the volume it picks up is ridiculously quiet. To get any normal level of sound you have to practically be eating the microphone, this of course means your audio quality is terrible and you have to have it pressed into your face. I desperately tried to find any fixes assuming it was my fault at first, the more research I did the more it became clear that this was a known technical fault with this model. Amazon offered a full refund or replacement so that was alright but it seems a bit of pot luck whether you'll get a microphone that works or not. I took the refund and I'm still looking for a better microphone.

Claims to be compatible with windows 10 but this is a lie. Its near impossible for it to work on window's 10 as it does not have any driver and snowball does not make drivers for this product. Now its just junk since it cant work without a driver. Hopefully i will return this or see if the snowball website can help. Their FAQ is also just as useless giving a request form as the only solution.

I often play PC games however don't find wearing a full headset comfortable.

The Blue Snowball is an excellent device. Its unbelievably simple to use (literally plug and play) and the sound quality has been described as better than the headset I was using prior to purchasing (which was a £350 Sennheiser headset mic). It also has the option to use on something like a suspension boom arm which is very handy.

The main selling point for me about the Snowball is that it seems to pick up sound perfectly even when placed quite far away. I often have it a foot or so away from me (to the left or right) and have never been told I am hard to hear. Additionally, it seems to be excellent at filtering out background noise (people I was speaking to were unable to hear keyboard typing or mouse clicks, or louder sounds like doors opening and closing).

The only down side to the Snowball is that it does not come with a hard mute button. You can obviously mute it with software, or just unplug it, but a mute button would warrant a 5 star review for me.
