This album for me is the last album from the first and best phase of Elton's career. Vocally I think he peaks on this record, (if you'll forgive the pun). He perhaps over uses his magnificent falsetto a little but has never sounded better. The sound on this record is pretty good. The depth varies going from almost adequate to adequate. The upper end detail is very good, crisp and clear on most tracks. The tone is fairly warm, a little bright on some tracks. The 1996 remastered CD I have sounds similar to this 2017 remastered vinyl, they both sound better than the original 1976 vinyl which had less depth. The vinyl quality itself is good with not too much in the way of surface noise.

Not a huge Elton John fan but I do really like his 70-78 output. Apparently this album was poor received when originally released but I don't see that. If you're looking for EJ hits this is not the album to get but if you want to hear great songs with depth then this is one to get.

ove this album, among some songs that marked my childhood

love this album, among some songs that marked my childhood
i bought this vinyl and maybe the post office lost it or should have been returned to the amazon uk deposit, i waited a long time, but never mind, i have this cd and i ended up buying this vinyl again, in another store in the uk, but i understand that at the end of the year, it is complicated to blame someone for the losses, as many purchases end up losing traffic and maybe one day it will even reach the recipient or seller
but let's talk about this record, it smiles seems to be hardest word, be it one of the songs that mark me a lot, another that when I heard it was Tonight, reminds me of the sad days in Europe that we were packed to go to BRAZIL, WHERE I AM LIVING SINCE THIS EPOCA, I had serious problems with everything, today I am more than 1 of the 10 billion foreigners that circulate in the country
TONIGHT is a song that moves me a lot, as it would be a qualification of a record I would rather give all possible stars

Vielgestaltiges Doppelalbum der Extraklasse
Reviewed in Germany 🇩🇪 on June 8, 2018Verified Purchase
Highlights gibt es viele: vom großen Hit "Sorry Seems to Be The Hardest Word", über das Chanson "Cage the Songbird" (Edith Piaf gewidmet), das jazzige Instrumental "Out Of the Blue", das ergreifende "Someone's Final Song", den kleineren, recht beschwingten Hit "Crazy Water" bis hin zum Disco-Boogie "Bite Your Lip".

Very disappointing

Very disappointing remaster. I don’t know what they have done here, but the recording sounds very flat. There are no dynamics, no presence no soundstage. I’m sorry that I sold my original pressing of this album. The original pressing sounded so much better.

Blue Moves 2017 Remastered From Original Analogue Master Tapes Vinyl Bad Pressings
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 6, 2019Verified Purchase
I have been getting the Elton Remastered 2017 Vinyl reissues for the past year when they have been on sale here on amazon.
This copy I got from their warehouse...used like new... for $11.83 total... with free shipping thanks to amazon's great free shipping policy during the whole month December thru the end of January... Free shipping no matter how much you spend!
So this arrived and was packed like normal. They just thru the album in their oversized box and couple air pillows.
Stunned that it arrived with no damage like banged corners or split seams.
So right away I was pleased that the album still had the shrink wrap on it......I inspected the vinyl and it looked beautiful.
Then I put on Side 1 and as soon as I dropped my needle on the record , I knew why the album was returned and put on sale at their warehouse. The surface Noise was immediate.
What the hey!!....Side 2 & 3 played better and finally Side 4......Ouch!....Surface noise was so bad ...and when the 3rd song on that side, one of my favorites... "Idol" ...started to play....was so noisy It was unlistenable.
So I sent this one back and ordered a New copy and that review will be posted also separately.
So my fellow Elton John Maniacs ....beware of this title being badly pressed and this is 15 months after it was released in Sept. 2017.
Guess I will just have to be content with my CD or my old original vinyl copy from the 70's.
Hope you all have better luck than I did.
Cheers...Jan. 6th, 2019
Update: 1-7-19
Well it looks like they won't let me write a separate review for the Brand New Sealed Copy I purchased right here on Amazon on Dec. 24th, 2018
So here it is:
It arrived packed much better than my used copy.
This one was actually placed inside a real nice album mailer box and placed inside the normal oversized box and even thru in some air pillows again.
I opened up the album and sure enough....the same exact issues on the vinyl in the exact same places.
So disappointed.
I will be returning this one also and will not try for another copy as they probably are all like that especially since this edition has been out for 15 months already.
But on the positive side....even though they don't advertise it .....these Elton reissues from 2017 are taken from the original analogue master tapes.
They do sound awesome.
As soon as I dropped the needle on the ..."Don't Shoot Me"...album you could tell right away the difference in the sound.....It was like hearing it for the first time....just incredible.
I also got the Honky-Madman-Tumbleweed-Caribou editions and they are fab!
So it was a major let down when I could not get a clean copy of Blue Moves.
Anyway....hope this helps all you Elton Vinyl Fans who may be interested in these recent vinyl reissues.
Cheers!
UPDATE : Saturday Oct. 27 - 2019
Well I took another chance on the BLUE MOVES VINYL ALBUM that I bought again on Oct. 17th - 2019.
Amazon had it marked down to $11 & tax and to be safe I purchased 2 copies.
It was packed in a very solid album mailer that could hold 2 copies of this album and arrived undamaged.
You would think that since I had bad pressings 10 months earlier, that after 10 months I would be able to get a better copy.
NO SUCH LUCK!
Again both copies had so much surface noise that they are virtually unplayable.
Now this is not Amazon's fault but rather the manufactuer's fault - just plain BAD VINYL PRESSINGS...the whole lot.
I can't imagine how many of these amazon has taken back on returns but I would say it is an enormous amount.
Do yourself a favor and AVOID BLUE MOVES ON VINYL sold here or anywhere else as all these 2017 pressings of BLUE MOVES are Horrific......and I now have gone thru 5-6 copies along with the one I got at another retail store last December.
Even if you see it for $5 and free shipping....AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Amazon should pull these from their site until there is another batch is printed up which is unlikely.
My original 1976 copy plays better than this new reissue which again came out in 2017.
So I will be scratching this one off my list for ever and YOU should too.
If you buy it YOU will be returning it.
If one of you Elton maniacs actually does get a pristine copy please leave a response and let me know where you got it at.
Anyway,
Cheers!....and you all have a great holiday season listening to Elton John Vinyl Albums

Excellent pressing / high quality / sounds great!
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 28, 2019Verified Purchase
I was apprehensive about this vinyl pressing reading all the negative reviews. But, for the price I really could not pass it up! I am very happy I did not.
I did not experience any problems like others have reported. No crackles, no problems whatsoever. The worse was a very slight warp in disc #2. But, I had to take a second look to be sure it was there so it was very light.
Of course, I cleaned this record before I play it as I do all new records. I have a pretty good cleaning ritual that works very well. Just a sponge, Dawn, a little elbow grease and allow to air dry.
Recommended for any Elton John fan! Great album.
