HASH(0xa0eb939c) out of 5 stars Wonderful Reference Oct. 19 2011

I was skeptical about ordering this book as I wondered if they would insert a specific theological viewpoint into the discussion and try to lead me down a path to a conclusion. The opposite is true. This book has been a great reference help for me in understanding the ins and outs of Revelation. I particularly appreciated the many Old Testament and other New Testament references that help to explain certain figurative language in this book. I would recommend this for anyone who is interested in learning more about Revelation - expert and novice alike. There's something for everyone.

HASH(0xa0c9454c) out of 5 stars The Book of Revelation For Dummies Feb. 24 2013
By William F. Bellais - Published on Amazon.com

I can recommend this book for anyone not familiar with the origins and background to the last book of the Christian Bible. Knowing about the form of ancient writing known as apocalyptic literature is important and helps the reader understand what the message is and for whom it was written. Further, this text helps the reader see the Hebrew Bible and other ancient connections to this form of literature. Once, someone told me he understood every book of the Bible except the Book of Revelation. My response was, "If you understand the books of the prophets--especially Ezekiel and Daniel--you should understand Revelation. Reading this book for dummies will help make the connections. It is easy to read and to follow. The book may make fundamentalists unhappy.

HASH(0xa0d66bb8) out of 5 stars OK as a general overview of some mainstream views on the Book of Revelation - not Great. March 22 2015
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Pretty Good. Good summary overview, pretty mainstream, not much on the more recently emerging interpretations which are not only getting more and more accurate in interpreting prophetic scripture, but are also more in tune with recent and current developments in our world that seem to be fulfilling prophecy.
In most cases the treatment of the book of Revelation is not very deep, with more ancillary information which may or may not be so relevant, than actually digging into the most meaningful parts of the text. May be a place to start, but hopefully not the last, and probably not the best read for someone really wanting to know what the relevant message of the book of Revelation is for us today, in these end times.
