This is by far the worst of the 3 Borderlands titles. It seems more like a Borderlands 2 DLC than it's own title. The Australian accents throughout the game get old in a hurry, so much so that I turned down the dialog volume in Options. I'm not sure why 2K felt they had to give 2K Australia their own title, but if that means constant Aussie accents and Aussie references through the game, I would think twice before buying another title built by that group. Annoying.
As far as game play goes, the low gravity component of the game is fun but takes some getting used to. I have re-spawned a lot so far in the game because of falling into volcanic chasms on the moon. The low oxygen component though, is just annoying after a while. You spend as much time worrying about having enough oxygen, and it puts you at a real disadvantage in places.
For the quests I've done so far, clues have been difficult to locate, and when you finally complete the quest (for example, having to use a nova shield to remove an electrical field and open a safe), the reward turns out to be not worth the effort. So far in the game, the drop rate for any good loot seems to be the worst of any of the Borderlands games.
I would recommend waiting until the price drops, or buying a used copy at your local gaming store. This game is not worth what they are asking for it, and if Gearbox/2K come out with a 4th release in the Borderlands franchise, I hope it is better than this one.
The game is basically the same as before. We have four new characters to play as, each having their own skill trees (as before). We also keep the "Badass" ranking system from the previous installment. This time, however, we have the added "bonus" of an O2 Kit, or as it's called in game, an "OZ" kit. This add on distinguishes how much air you can breath while out in the open world and not inside a "breathable atmosphere". Which brings me to the physics of the character's movement. This is where the game differs from the previous versions. You move around the world just as you would imagine someone in a space outfit might move. Well, maybe a bit easier/quicker, but none the less. While this IS technically something that you'd expect (being on a moon and in space) it's not something that I particularly enjoyed. I felt that at times, it slowed the game down a bit. However, at other times, the jumping mechanics helps out. It's a catch 22, in my opinion. That being said,..it's NOT a deal breaker by ANY means!Read more ›
It's going to be hard for Gearbox and 2K to top Borderlands 2. I certainly didn't expect them to try to top it with the Pre-Sequel, but they still put out one hell of a game in The Pre-Sequel.
I found that some of the missions were a bit repetitive. I didn't have quite as much fun on these missions as I did in Borderlands 2. However, the game-play is one of Pre-Sequel's strongest points, adding the Elpis's low-gravity and Oz-Kits.
You hear much more dialogue from the Vault Hunters during missions. Not as many internet memes are used as in Borderlands 2, and the dialogue through most of the game gave me some good laughs. The development of Handsome Jack's character was excellent and Dameon Clarke's voice work continues to impress.
Perhaps most important of all to the average Vault Hunter, I've found that you will see better loot at the Vending Machines under "Item of the Day". Not quite the same rate as Borderlands 1, but you can find Legendary items at vending machines at better rates. Also, I strongly recommend playing as Claptrap "The Fragtrap" to make the experience even funnier.
FINAL VERDICT: Having played both Borderlands 1 & 2, I have fell in love with this series. Although Borderlands 2 is one of my all-time favorite video games, Gearbox and 2K Australia did an excellent job with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Not as good as 1 and 2.
The lack of gravity adds an unnecessary level of difficulty for some quests, but adds a new fun way of attacking.
Game got less and less enjoyable the longer I played. Some of the npcs just won't shut up and give you your quest rewards etc. grinder is ok. Read morePublished 17 months ago by LAN Milin
