Bose® QuietComfort® 20i Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones
In-ear. Noise Cancelling. Better sound.
Consider them your go-to headphones, wherever you go. The first in-ear noise cancelling headphones from Bose give you more control over how you listen than ever before, in all kinds of environments. Block the outside world with full-on noise reduction. Or, choose Aware mode and let some of it in—all while keeping your headphones on and your music alive with Bose sound. Wherever your day takes you, QC®20i headphones keep you connected. To the beat of your music, and the pulse of what's around you.
Lose yourself in your music. Or not so much.
With QC20i headphones, you can enjoy music on the go as never before, with an unprecedented combination of superb sound, advanced noise reduction and in-ear convenience. StayHear+ tips physically block some noise while our Acoustic Noise Cancelling technology electronically reduces most of what's left. It's just you and your music, even in noisy environments.
But there are moments when you may not want to be so cut off from your surroundings. Crossing a city street. Waiting for airline gate announcements. This is where Aware mode comes in. Instead of removing your headphones, just press a button, and you're back in touch with the sounds around you—while your music keeps playing and you still experience some noise reduction.
All this, plus Bose lifelike sound. Sound you wouldn't expect from in-ear headphones. Our TriPort technology and Active EQ combine to give your music a depth and balance that keep your daily soundtrack fresh and alive. The subtle details shine through, too. So wherever you are, your music's front and center.
And your music's even easier to enjoy when you're not fussing with your headphones. Proprietary StayHear+ tips create a soft, secure fit with no need to force them into your ears. The mushroom shape spreads contact evenly across the ear for maximum comfort, and forms a gentle seal that contributes to the headphones' full-spectrum noise reduction.
You're in control
Controls are all at your fingertips. Use the slider switch on the control module to turn noise cancelling on and off. The 4-button inline remote, customized for iPhone, iPad and iPod models, houses Aware mode and volume buttons. In addition, the call answer/end button also enables music/video functions and voice commands.
The built-in lithium-ion battery (located inside the module) charges in just 2 hours with the included USB cable, and delivers up to 16 hours playing time per charge. A battery indicator light displays power status. And, even if the battery dies your music still plays with performance equal to that of our regular in-ear headphones.
The headphones and cables fit nicely into the carrying case when not in use.

Stupid me lost an excellent 20i Acoustic earphone 2 days ago and rush shipped this junk - $371
Muddy muddy base. Really a step down from the 20i. which were clear as most Bose products are.
This is not my first Boss product i've spend thousands on speakers and sound systems from Bose over the years but after this they've lost me.
Minor issues are the thinner cables and cheaper battery. I prefered my softer travel case etc but really i just hate this new sound.
Yes this product really does cancel out the ambient sounds but do your self a favor and find the 20i which really sound like a Bose headphone should!
+Best noise cancelling.
+Full range sound.
+Good for stationary uses.
-Noise cancelling / sound processing module is quite bulky.
-Not really mobile friendly due to processing unit.
At this time about a year ago I first plunged into the world of noise-cancelling, and purchased Bose's QC-15s. I always hesitated mainly because of the price which I guess is a relative thing but paying well over $300.00 for a pair of headphones is a sizeable amount for the average person. As good as the noise-cancellation was, I found the discomfort after wearing the QC-15s for 20 minutes and longer to be annoying. I also had to replace the earpads themselves after about a year as they started to crack and eventually completely split open. In no small part I am sure that was thanks to the build up of sweat and chemicals from the shampoo in my hair or oil from the skin. Even thought I did try to clean them regularly, it didn't prevent the deterioration and ultimate replacement of the pads - which by the way are NOT cheap (almost $80.00).
Anyway I wanted to find a pair of phones WITHOUT the big earpads that envelop the ear. So I purchased a pair of the 20i today and am extremely impressed - no, BLOWN away! - by the noise cancellation. I am a bit of a skeptic. Despite the great reviews I've seen by professionals and regular audiophiles alike, I still wasn't convinced that the noise cancelling would be as good as the QC-15s because they are in-ear and do NOT envelop the ear - a logical assumption I figure.Read more ›
I showed up in person at their store in the Eaton Center in downtown Montreal with my receipt where they told me there was nothing they could do and handed me a business card with a number to call.
After reaching someone on the phone, I was asked to pay close to 200$ of the original value to exchange them.
It's also relevant to mention that there is minimal wear on these guys (see picture) as I keep them at my desk all day and never commute/workout with them! For these headphones to break so easily in a little over a year is very disappointing. For Bose to ask me close to 200$ to replace them is unacceptable.
-- UPDATE --
After making a formal complaint to to their Product and Technical Support, Bose promptly responded and waived the fee to have my headphones exchanged. My faith in the Bose brand has been restored!
For my review I'm going to give a quick overview of how I feel they compare to the QC15's (even if it is an apple vs oranges argument)
Noise Canceling - The QC20 wins by a tonne, the noise cancelling on these things is amazing
Audio Quality - QC15's win by the smallest amount, they just seem to sound better, can't really say why
Comfort - QC15. While the QC20's are super comfortable, I do find the QC15's to be more comfortable.
