HASH(0xb3384c00) out of 5 stars Great second book! Dec 2 2015
By raychel faulkner - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I was really excited to get this book. I enjoyed the first one and was waiting for vol 2 to release. I was not disappointed, the characters are simply amazing and well developed as is the storyline. It has romance, some pretty hot scenes and suspense. The characters are relatable and full of emotions that the author makes you feel with her descriptions and grabs you right from the beginning. Wonderful second book!
I received this book for an honest review.
HASH(0xb3384c54) out of 5 stars The glow of reading J.A. Kerr's novels takes some time to wear off. This is a book that glitters and sparkles! Dec 9 2015
By Stella - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a long awaited sequel to 'The Braille Club' and I must say that I could not wait to read it, having read J.A. Kerr's first masterpiece. Her characters are so vividly portrayed in three dimensional fashion, and we are carried along with the emotional charge of repressed feelings, and events that are waiting to be 'unleashed'. Behind the scenes, things are never quite what they seem. We are never sure of which way the novel will turn next. Kerr's use of suspense is superb, and we are transfixed by a world where the characters are linked by a mysterious club, the rules of which create a backdrop to the novel, and which make us feel that we are included within the story as we find out more, our own boundaries of perception being pushed further and further into a new dimension. The novel looks at temptation and at what happens when barriers are let down, and where people venture into experiences that they cannot control, and which take them into places where they feel that they are up against their own moral code of behaviour, wondering what they should do- this is a 'seize the day' type of novel in that sense, as we live within a fast pace, where modern life is interjected with age old dilemmas. The bond between the characters is very well developed and we feel that we get to know the protagonists in considerable detail, making them highly authentic. They may remind us of people we know, or people we may never meet, yet they can't fail to interest either due to similarities or differences- they are all living within such a hive of activity that we find out something new at each turn of the page that we could never have guessed about them.

J.A. Kerr crafts her novel into a format which makes the reader constantly fascinated with that happens next, and she cleverly uses a formula which has a multimedia feel, turning the wheel of fate for characters like a highly experienced authoritative author, yet she leaves the reader to decide for themselves how they respond to her narrative- she writes in a traditional style and this is such a brilliant vehicle as it contrasts with her thoroughly modern approach, which can at times hint at a soap opera. This is so subtle in its representation of modern stereotypes that it actually creates a two tier novel, which can either be interpreted purely on a superficial level as something highly entertaining and interesting, or an in depth way, looking into the existential angst that haunts the couples, and their characters.

'The Braille Club Unleashed' is a perfect title as we experience emotions that once expressed, cannot be retracted and the consequences of acts are looked at from many dimensions, such as the DNA test, these multiple perspectives offering texture and also creating a narrative which offers the reader both an intimate and a bird's eye perspective at various points. There is therefore a cinematic feel to the novel, as we feel that we are looking through a lens at the main characters, yet at times the lens zooms out and we are able to see more objectively what their actions are within the context of the Braille Club, yet also on an every day level. This sort of writing is compelling.

At times daring, and at times a little risqué, this is a novel where taste and class shine through, and which looks good on any shelf as it is a universal type of novel, with many hallmark features of a classic. If a reader does not like sensual imagery, they can simply skip over the more sexualised parts of the book, and it is cleverly written so that it will appeal to a wide variety of readers, even those who don't like more modern novels that include erotica. Discrete and also sophisticated, this novel oozes appeal. It offers a ticket into a world where different rules apply, and it is escapist in the best possible way- it creates a wonderful sense of making the reader feel as though they are in control of their responses to the book rather than appearing to dictate what the reader should feel.

I found this second novel so refreshing to read, and it was very hard to put down. The cover is beautiful and I found that the length of the novel was perfect, as it had reached a conclusion in a way that made me feel that I had read a book that was so rewarding and at the same time humorous in parts. I must say that I wanted to read the next one but then realised that it has not yet come out. This is a writer I chanced upon but I am now recommending J.A. Kerr to my friends as I see this author as being a bestseller in the future. I feel that this is a lucky find, in a saturated market and the glow of reading J.A. Kerr's novels takes some time to wear off. This is a book that glitters and sparkles!
HASH(0xb33890a8) out of 5 stars Great Read -- Highly Recommend! Dec 12 2015
By Rose Gluck - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I have been a big fan of J.A. Kerr since the first Braille Club. I was eagerly awaiting the second in the series and I was not disappointed. The writing is so sharp and engaging. I loved that the novel is set within the larger context of the Braille Club, a sexy, mysterious & exclusive club. Several plot lines were woven together offering a fascinating view into the private lives of extraordinary couples. I found each story touching, intense and psychologically compelling. There were also some very steamy moments that kept the pages turning. The Braille Club Unbound is a great read. I can’t wait for more from this author!
HASH(0xb3389468) out of 5 stars AS GOOD AS THE FIRST Dec 3 2015
By M. Perks - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I had already read the first book in this series, and been very impressed by the writing and the characters, I did wonder whether the author could maintain the same standard with her second book. Well, I’m glad to say she did. Again we have some of the same characters, but in different situations, and again though it is hot and steamy it is erotic rather than offensive or pornographic. It’s a story of human relationships, and how people cope with their feelings and actions, and I for one thought it was very true to life. Well done, hope to read more from this author in the future.
