After using for actual emergency power in my home, I will update this review. So far I am very happy. I am writing this so anyone who purchases this knows to fill it up to the max oil line.
One nice feature I like is this generator has a trickle charger built in that needs to be plugged into a 120 V outlet. This is great because it guarantees that the battery is always fully charged when the power goes out so the electric start should run fine without a problem. The frame is heavy duty and I look forward to using this generator many years. I will be running this on a monthly basis for at least 10 minutes. I have put in a gas stabilizer so I hope to not have gas problems either. These are all things I have learned after a few generators and many power outages. I am currently keeping it in the garage but I will eventually place it on some flat rocks on the side of my house. The rocks provide a stable surface and also level the generator. It needs to be there because that is where the external hook-up is to connect the 50W 220 A output from this generator. I am waiting until I add an outdoor 120V plug at that location before setting it up there. The generator came with it's own cover.
Update: I've recently used it for an 8 hour power outage and it worked fine. No complaints. I have two generators and they both worked fine providing plenty of power for my home. I ran the portable A/C off of this generator without any issues that I noticed. I run them for a bit over 10 minutes once a month. One thing to make sure they start up is when you run them for the 10 minutes monthly, you don't turn them off via the on/off button/switch but you close off the gas line and let the engine stop due to lack of gas. This worked well and this generator ran just fine during my 8 hour power outage.
2nd Update: I used it last week for a 5 hour power outage and it worked fine. No problems, kept the water well pump working, kept the oil burning boiler/furnace working, the septic system pumps and various refrigerators/freezers and other lights and circuits running without any hiccups. Started easily and ran fine. This was on February 3rd, 2014. It was cold, like in the 20s and started without any problems.
It's now been 4 years and it is still working fine. One minor item that I check whenever I actually use this is a reset all the circuit breakers on the from panel of the generator. That way, if any tripped for whatever reason they will be working as they should and you will not be scratching you head wondering why the generator is running and no power is going into the circuits. I discovered this one time. I really can't complain about this generator It has pretty much worked without any problems.
Took it to a local Briggs & Stratton repair shop where it lived for 3 months, only to get it back and find it didn't have any 220 output.
Took it to a second repair shop and they fixed that, but then the engine would not stay running.
The third repair shop finally got everything fixed, but it still has carburetion and fuel issues.
Look elsewhere. I finally replaced it with a Honda generator that works perfectly.
