This is a dress watch. The watch has a case/face that is about 40mm in diameter. It is average in size. The case is about 9mm thick. The face of the dial is silver and white and features conventional hour, minute and second hands. The hour markers are all in polished silver color. Twelve O'Clock is marked with the Bulova insignia; all other hours are marked with thin trapezoids. The hour and minute hands as well as a dot above each hour are luminous. This is not a battery-powered backlighting but your general "glow in the dark" which "charges up" in bright light and retains the ability to glow for some time afterward.
The face also includes an analog date window.
The watch case is trimmed in eight sets of diamond chips, each set containing four chips, or a total of 24 diamond chips. Obviously, these are very small chips, but set on the stainless steel they do give the watch a elegant look.
As for the band, it is stainless steel, "bracelet style" and is 25mm wide. It utilizes Bulova's "deployment buckle" which hides away the clasp to give the band the illusion of being continuous without a clasp. The width of the band alternates between brushed and polished stainless steel for a very nice look. The links on the 96E106's watch band use standard link pins. Removable link pins are marked with an arrow on the inside of the link, to indicate the direction in which the pins should be pushed out. Resizing the 96E106's band can be done yourself at home with the proper tool (either a sizing block/pusher pin tool or a small watch hammer and punch). If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, your local watch dealer will usually charge $10 or so to resize the band. It is easy to bend or lose pins, so many people just go to their local jewelry store to avoid any mishaps.
The watch is rated water resistant to a depth of 30 meters.
You have to see this watch in person to appreciate it. It is really beautiful, especially for its price class. I am yet to see a watch even half as nice for a comparable price.
A word or two about water resistance:
A watch rated at 30 meters will typically withstand splashes of water and rain, but is not intended for swimming and certainly not diving. A 50 meter rating would be good for showering and brief/shallow swims. At 100 meters, you get into the class of watches which can withstand swimming; 200 meters and you can do skin diving. A "Diver's Watch rating, typically of 150 meters or greater, is suitable for SCUBA diving.
of place diamonds. I was soooo wrong! When received, the imagery of the diamond is 1/16 from the image that appear on the web site. Shop / buy with a open mind.
