Product Description

When tragedy strikes and as the world begins to crumble around him, Mark SleepingBear decides that it’s high time to renovate his grandfather’s Cold War era fallout shelter. As conditions deteriorate, Mark struggles with the decision to share his bunker, should the need arise, with his neighbors. For years, Mark has isolated himself from these people. After he shares his secret, his neighbors decide to build their own bunker, a massive shelter, constructed with comfort as the number one priority. Soon, Mark learns that the illusion he has created about his neighbors, is just that. They are far from being the perfect couples he has always envisioned them to be. Mark begins to regret his decision to share the secret. Meanwhile, the country is thrown into an uproar when President Crabtree announces that he has penned a Presidential Order, one that combines the United States with Canada and Mexico, in what Crabtree dubs as the North American Union. Chaos ensues, as the Pentagon staunchly refuses to go along with the plan. Sadly, Mark’s worst fears are soon realized.

I enjoyed this book hoping that there will a book two or three, if not then I think the ending could have been a lot better. Character building was excellent, it was pretty easy to like or dislike a character, storyline was good as well just not sure about the ending to many thing unfinalized. Keep writing and I'll keep reading. .. .

HASH(0xa0b87ccc) out of 5 stars Waste of time March 2 2014

I'm sorry to say either I am easily bored, or this book is confused and dull. I think the latter is the case. One dimensional characters, doused with eccentricities, do not necessarily create an interesting plot line. We have a war hero who can't make a decision, an unrelenting trampy wife, neighbors who alternately threaten to kill and/or hug each other. It's a nightmare with no redeeming qualities.

It's like those movies, we've all seen a few, when, after watching the whole thing out of some hope for entertainment, we think, "Why did I waste my time on that!" Some might say the ending was awesome. It wasn't....just weird and disappointing.

HASH(0xa0a579b4) out of 5 stars Loved it till the ending Feb. 20 2014

I have read quite a few of Nicholas' books and have loved them. I was very excited to read this one and read it in one sitting. Absolutely loved it, till the ending. Very anti-climactic. Very odd! It felt like he had to finish the book quickly and didn't take the time with the ending. I'm not sure if it's going to be the first book in a series or a stand alone book. If it is going to be a series, maybe he is planning on explaining the ending more.
Overall was really disappointed. :-(

HASH(0xa0a5799c) out of 5 stars Started out good... May 12 2014
By Rattail - Published on Amazon.com

This book started out pretty good. The story line was good but so many things were out of wack. Some of the grammer was off such as the repeated "I borrowed it to him" instead of "loaned". I don't know if the writer felt that a Native American wouldn't have the use of proper English or what but as a Native American I felt a little offended that only the Native used improper grammar. I couldn't decide whether or not the Native was a prepper or not as he decided to include people in on his prepping that it didn't seem like he really even liked them. Overall I did enjoy the story but didn't care much for the ending as it came all of a sudden and left a lot of questions about what happened. It was a confusing ending and not one I expected from this author as I have enjoyed other books by him. The three stars are because while the story started out well, it seemed to go astray in the middle and then the ending was a total mystery as it was just too far out there.

HASH(0xa0c01f48) out of 5 stars Another work of Art! Feb. 13 2014

This book is a hot page-turner. It is action packed and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. (I read it in 2 days!) As Mr. Antinozzi thoroughly describes his characters and story, it is clear that he understands people, personalities, personality disorders and PTSD, (My background is police-work and psychology). Mr. Antinozzi "Nails it!"

I admit I'm a fan of the writings of Mr. Antinozzi. I've decided he has a natural God-given gift of versatility on many different levels when it comes to creating a book. Though, I doubt Mr. Antinozzi would agree or readily accept this praise, this book, at the end, reveals Mr. Antinozzi as a very humble person.

It is quite clear that Mr. Antinozzi has a true gift as a writer and I expect to see bigger and brighter things in his future.

HASH(0xa0c03168) out of 5 stars Caught Me By Surprise!! Feb. 16 2014

This book will not disappoint loyal fans of Nick Antinozzi. I will try to keep this spoiler free as possible but it will be a challenge. A group of neighbors find themselves in trouble, unprepared and at odds with each other- stepping up to plate, one man pulls them together (after suffering from his own tragedy). The groups is a mixed match of people, personalities and it's not surprising how this becomes the demise of the group. Mr. Antinozzi tells it like it is, with his awesome ability to catch hold of the reader with creative descriptions (the bunkers), inner turmoils (eye brow raising personalities) and surprises( the ending) this book has it all. I found this a pleasurable read from my usual genre and recommend this and all of Mr. Antinozzi's books.
